We're paying the Russians $21 million an astronaut to go to the space station. We're called the only superpower, and yet we don't have space flight capability _ this is not the message to send to our young engineers and scientists.

My worry is that if we stand down the shuttles entirely and something drastic happens on the space station, like a debris strike, for instance, the Russian support ships won't be able to respond. You can't do repairs up there without a shuttle.

We had some improvements today. We are getting a little bit better each meet. We know that we have to get a lot better before the conference and NCAA meets. We competed in a great facility, and the trip out to Albuquerque wasn't as long as I thought it would be.

We are looking forward to this weekend's meet. The University of New Mexico has a lot of great teams coming in, and we will use this as a gauge against teams we don't go up against week-in and week out during the year.

This is a big thing for us. It's been an interesting recruiting process. We've had so many coaches come through here looking at kids.

The big quality he has that will help him is reading defenses and making decision. There are quarterbacks out there that are bigger than he is and have stronger arms.

I've never seen anyone with the natural ability of Stanley and the vision Stanley has. The combination of the speed and power and ability to make any play a big play.

Our kids have gotten a lot healthier since the fall. We're getting a little healthier each week, and each week we are getting more fit. I expect to see some more NCAA provisional and automatic marks in the upcoming weeks.

The indoor season is a building process. We are hoping to get a little bit better this week and get set for our ultimate goal, which is the conference and NCAA meets.

We can start using that building for special events on weekends and some of the upcoming holidays, maybe start a community orchestra or community choir.

And it works the other way, too. You can make mistakes, and the weather may rescue you.

Music rounds out a student completely. We're trying to educate a whole person here; it carries over into their other academics, the discipline, the attention to detail and the focus.

The elementary schools are doing a great job, but the middle schools are losing future music students.

I thought it was very positive. They're pleased with the progress they've made in the past six years, and they've performed some miracles in energizing learning.

To me, that was a function of them working efficiently together. But also with the community being willing to lock arms with the schools. We know that if kids don't go to school, it's not just your problem, it's everybody's problem. So I consider that part of it.
