Each one is finding their niche. (Katie Rill) has been solid for us all year inside scoring tough baskets, Katy Richards and Anna Vogel are two of our post players who can shoot the ball. We're also getting contributions from Spencer Jump and Gracie Snider out on the perimeter and Olivia (Bull) has been able to drive to the basket.

Everyone is feeling their own way at the offensive end. It's been nice. But I don't want to leave out Becca Teach and Lindsey Jones. They are getting the ball to where it needs to be and getting everyone open looks.

I think it's a wonderful starting place.

At that point we were 3-5. At halftime of the Newark Catholic game, we talked about having the energy, the excitement and the enthusiasm and giving the effort it takes to win. In the second half, and despite losing to Johnstown, I started to see those things. Since that point, we won five of our last six and it's not by accident.

This is obviously a breakage. It's not my intention to have anybody cold, and we certainly regret any interruption of service.

We like to say that 'hunting is safe and getting safer' and it really is.

Mandatory hunter education is really having an impact.

We're still on a trend that is taking us downward.

We couldn't have paid the vice president to give us this much publicity. Because he is a high-visibility figure, it actually elevates the importance and awareness of the hunter education effort that has a long-standing history.

What that carries with it is seeing what is in front and what is beyond the intended target.

Especially in quail hunting, where the hunter is so focused on the bird that it makes everything else blurry. The bottom line in terms of bird hunting is what we call shooting zones.

This doesn't mean that California is going to be OK in 2030. There are parts of the state that will be short . . . particularly in droughts.

Certainly we teach about communicating and essentially doing all things to be defensive and proactive. Everybody has a role to play, but the accident data is geared toward whoever is holding the firearm at the time.

They call it target fixation. You get fixated on that quail and as it goes toward the sun you take a shot before it disappears in the light.

All it does is raise awareness and awareness prevents a few incidents.
