We're getting to the point where you don't say I'm an African-American coach. I'm just 'Coach.

I finally found my way back. You never plan on something like this until it happens. Fate has me back here. It's good to be back home.

I'm happy to be the coach here and I'm going to be the coach here, like I said before, and that's as far as I want to comment on it.

Obviously it's not what you anticipated going into the season. It would be good to get a win at home.

I addressed that six weeks ago. I still stand on what I said. I'm coach of the Jets. The season will end, we'll try to get this thing going in the right direction. We've got a lot of things to do here.

It's easy to be a leader when you are 12-and-whatever, but it's hard to be a leader when you've only won three games. That's a man's man to do that.

We're in a unique position, obviously.

I think they're one of the best, and they've kept their guys together. They have a corps of (very good special teams players).

I think it would be one-third either way. I think what we've been able to do is expose ourselves to all our players and get a better idea about some of those guys who were in the middle tier.

This year, it was 19. It's always around that, somewhere around there. The average is probably going to be a third of your team. Is that a lot? I don't think that's a lot. ... We're going to get some guys back.

He's really playing his senior year of college in pro football. You can't lose sight of that. I never do when you pick juniors. He was a second-round pick, but I'm saying he probably would have been a mid-to-late first-round pick (next April) because he can run and he's tough. ... He's a guy who's gotten better.

We're going to get a good football player. Last time I checked, I had a saying a couple of years ago that you play the game for one reason and one reason only. Right? That hasn't changed for me. You play to win.

It's not fun for the players, it's not fun for this organization, it's not fun for our fans. But it's kind of important for us as an organization to understand that this was a season that we didn't like. But as I've said many times, it's not a condition. It's a season. A new season will start for us, the 2006 season.
