I am very much looking forward to it. I am very familiar with this type of format from playing in Ryder Cup competition before. I have played this competition with Arnold before when we played in the Shark Shootout. When Greg Norman had his first couple of Franklin Templeton Shark Shootouts we had a straight, pure, alternate-shot format in one of the rounds, so I understand it and there is strategy. But it also offers opportunities for you to be the hero. At any one time, your partner might not hit a great shot or he could hit a great shot – you can make the hero putt or make the hero recovery.

It helps a great deal because I know what he can do and he knows what I can do. We both know that if we both hit a bad shot we are not going to feel like we have left our partner stranded. The tough thing about alternate-shot, whether it is here or in the Ryder Cup, is stranding your partner. It is like you are putting them out on a rubber dinghy with one oar. But you know what, we are all trying. As they say, 'life doesn't require you to be the biggest or the best, all it requires of you is to try.' And all eight of us are going to be trying our hardest.

The hip is a little sore and the knee gimpy, but I did just fine. I birdied two of my first three holes, struggled in the middle and then righted the ship. I would say I'm at 80 percent right now.

I love doing things like this. I just love it. You know that interacting with sponsors, interacting with media and doing things to promote golf are right up our alley.

There are some guys, they're not too happy to see anybody come out here that's new.

You see a lot of bad golf shots. I was playing with a guy once who took a wild swing with a 3-wood or something, and he hit the ground behind the ball and the divot flapped over the ball. He stood there looking down the fairway, and we were on the ground laughing because his ball was underneath the divot, and he didn't even know that he did not hit the ball.

Watching guys hit the long ball, and hitting the long ball, is intoxicating.

Golf is just so much fun. I don't see how anybody can't have a great time out here doing what we're doing.

I have a good time every round, but today was really fun because the three of us are such good friends. I mean, sometimes when I play with him, I have to pretend like I like Stadler.

I'm afraid there is a tendency today that a lot of the guys take the game too seriously. That's why the Champions Tour is so great. We're all out here just having a great time.

You could bury three elephants in that bunker. I think Nicklaus designed that bunker at night.

Does that feel awful? Good, it's correct then.

Got off to a great start, then started missing fairways. Really sloppy on the back nine.
