Right now, it wasn't as important for us to determine what caused it as it was for us to put it out and get our workers to safely to surface.

You'd be hard-pressed to find any mining operation in the world that has a better safety record.

There are a number of fine rescue people; everybody has been contributing to the success of this and I don't want to underestimate the contributions that our communities are making. We live in rural Saskatchewan and we ban together.

All 72 of our miners are safely on surface and are completely healthy. I can assure you we will be doing a complete investigation in the coming days and once we know the cause of that, we will take steps to make sure it does not happen again.

It really is a good news story. It's because of the training of our people that we're happy to report that everybody is safe and within the next hour we anticipate everybody will be on surface and headed home towards warm beds.

Everybody's proud of what we've accomplished by following our basic procedures.

Whether they had the proper firefighting equipment nearby or not, I don't know, but we'll take whatever steps are necessary to make sure that if that same job was done tomorrow, that same fire couldn't happen.

I won't kid you, there was a lot of relief in that.

In those refuge stations, they can seal themselves off and there's oxygen, food and water. And they can stay in there for at least 36 hours.

The fire is out, it's obviously good news. They're all safe, they're all secure, they're all accounted for and we'll be escorting them out of the mine sometime tonight.

We have had fires underground but none that we can remember that have been this tricky.

They are equipped with breathing apparatus that lasts for approximately four hours, although we rarely go anywhere near four hours.
