By the time I got past a few cars, my main competitor (Joe Blacker, in a 1978 Lola T298) had pulled out a fair gap. There was no way I would have caught up to him. It was still a fun race.

I hadn't been in the car today before qualifying, and since I was jumping into the car cold, in the beginning I was just trying to get a feel for it.
