Now we go to Friday and the non-farm payrolls, which is the main part of the economic reporting cycle, and if that number comes in too strong, the bonds get whacked again -- and so do the stocks.

Given that the employment report will be released on Friday, the appetite for selling the dollar may be limited especially with the consensus for non-farm payrolls gradually creeping higher from the original reading of 200,000.

It looks like the market will be focused on the interest rate cycle this week and finish off with non farm payrolls on Friday, so many market participants are expecting this week to determine the direction of U.S. indices for the remainder of the year.

The dollar rally after the non-farm payrolls report underscores the continued importance of labor market tightness with respect to interest rate expectations.

Given that the market is having difficulty rallying, we believe the risk is to higher yields upon a stronger-than-expected non-farm payrolls report. The unemployment rate will also be important. If it drops to 4.6 percent, then that would be very bearish.

I think this is a dollar-supportive (report) ... regardless of the headline (non-farm payrolls) number.

I think it (Friday's report) is incredibly important from a market point of view. But I'm not sure that swing voters in rural Ohio are going to be into the non-farm payroll number.

It was a pleasant surprise, what happened with the jobs report. People were relieved -- the change in non-farm payrolls was the standout.

The market is very short and people have to cover before non-farm payrolls.

How the market interprets some of the earnings next week will be the broader focus. With the employment report out of the way and the inflation report due a ways away, the market will focus more specifically on companies.

I think the market's getting geared up for that release. Many are looking for a large increase (in non-farm payrolls).

To the extent that consumer sentiment reacts to movements in the unemployment rate rather than the meager increase in non-farm payrolls, we have to take this ... report as delivering good news to the troops.

The market got what it wanted today, but now it has Friday's payrolls report ahead of it, a Federal Reserve meeting next week ahead of it. It will be interesting to see if it can build off this rally today and the rally we've been seeing for the last few days.
