It was a pleasant surprise, what happened with the jobs report. People were relieved -- the change in non-farm payrolls was the standout.

Most traders will really be positioning for the October employment report. Economists are expecting that non-farm payrolls rose by approximately 50,000 during the month, providing evidence that with two straight months of employment growth, the jobs picture is finally turning around.

The payrolls report would typically be the week's big event, but I think people are having a hard time with the report, because forecasts are all over the place due to confusion about the impact of the hurricanes.

I thought the jobs report was more robust than the headline number would suggest, with the June and July upward revisions to payrolls countering the August miss.
