I'd rather not get overly excited because I think that's really naive. How we play this year depends primarily on the guys we already have on the team.

I watched him play basketball after he missed three weeks with something in the groin area. I think he's a brawler; he knocks people around. He's a tough guy who's only going to get better.

We need linemen to practice and the bigger the better. I feel like we did take care of that.

We were really short on receiving numbers. Though there's a possibility one or two could move over.

That was part of the package. The (June) draft is always a strong possibility because of his considerable baseball talents but we hope a scholarship to Stanford is a strong deterrent.

We're excited about the progress we're making. We were looking for guys who have a passion for the game of football. That's the area we really tried to hit on.

I'm not looking at surgery and he's not looking at surgery, but we're not really sure yet. We are hoping it is what the doctors have diagnosed and we can treat it.

We had to replace four coaches from last year's staff and I'm very pleased with the personnel we were able to bring in. Jeff is obviously a talented, young coach who will play a key role on our staff.

I'm definitely ready to come in and help. I've been a young guy before, and I know how I thought as a young guy. I was surrounded by a lot of veteran leadership, and that helped me out a whole lot. I just really want to return the favor.

It's up to them. They built a challenging road for themselves. I want to stress that this is not a university issue. It is a Stanford football program thing.

I anticipate him being healthy. His arm is feeling much improved. Evan Moore has taken a negative and turned it into a positive. He went through the realization that there was a legitimate chance he'd never play football again. That affected his outlook and attitude in regards for his body. He has done a tremendous amount of work to improve his body, especially his flexibility and that will have a positive affect on his ability to play wide receiver.

It's like our first year all over again. There are a lot of areas where we need to upgrade our play.

There are a lot of young guys who will get a chance to play. There were some holes in our recruiting. We've got a lot of work to do.

It's huge. We'll probably have to play somebody, a young guy. I think we are really trying to find the next guy, the third-best guy, so people are seeing some more reps.

Talk to me after the first game. We're a new coaching staff still getting to know our players. We haven't had the band out there or the cheerleaders out there yet. Who knows what our guys will do when that happens.
