There's no surprise they're dumping MBNA,

Wachovia and Bank of America compete head-to-head for deposit account customers in critically important states. It's simply untenable for Wachovia to continue to cede the credit card account relationship to Bank of America once that company takes over MBNA.

He was sent off for foul and abusive language to a linesman. That is totally unacceptable.

The issuers are competing in a real slugfest for customers, and the rewards programs are at the center of it.

Consumers could be in for an even sweeter deal, either getting discounts from retailers for using the PIN debit cards or being rewarded by card network by winning money back for using the signature debit cards.

Come January first, you're going to see that your minimum monthly payment has increased. Your household's cash flow will diminish. That's the bad news. The good news is that at least you're paying down what you owe.

All paper-based payments are in retreat.

The loss of the State Theater was the loss of a historic landmark, a cultural center, and a business destination that brought people down from Wilmington and all over the county.

Today's Main Street is missing places where parents can bring their children, not just come to drink and dine and stroll around. There's not the variety or the cultural development. It's almost exclusively student-oriented. The city is ignoring the needs of longtime residents.

It's a chicken-and-egg thing. You could send cards to everyone in San Francisco, but if the merchants don't have the terminals, what's the point? What you need is a cooperative effort with merchants in a metropolitan area to create a tipping point where you can justify advertising and merchants are willing to attempt this new payment system.

It's still very early, I can't answer whether it's suspicious or death by misadventure.

We're going to have it closed for at least this week and into the weekend.

It could come down all at once in the rain storms on Friday, who knows.

We'll see how it reacts in the (weekend) storm then decide on how we re-open it to two-way or one-way traffic.
