For us to be completely off the board is shocking. Some of the teams that were included, I'm sure are quality basketball teams, but the numbers do not compute.

I'm open to anyone telling me a justifiable reason as to why this team did not get to the NCAA tournament other than, 'Andy we can't let nine teams from one league get in. It sends the wrong message.

The committee has always stated they don't look at conference affiliation, they look at the 34 best teams.

There?s no question in my mind that we?re one of the 34 best at-large teams in the country.

If I were a head coach in the Big East, this should be considered a somber day. The selection committee wouldn't allow nine teams from one league. Seton Hall [which did get in] beat us and maybe that's how they justify it. I'm in a state of disbelief.

This is a crazy ending to what has been an unbelievable year. This is not the ending that was appropriate.

To me there's only one explanation, and that is despite the rhetoric we hear about not having putting caps on teams in leagues, I think there was a cap and they did not feel justified in allowing nine teams in from one conference.

I need the truth to be told and the truth to be told is we can't give one league nine bids. So to every coach in the Big East, today was a frightening day.

I think, obviously they put a cap on it. I know it came down to head-to-head, because if you compared all the numbers between us and other teams, it does not compute. The committee wanted to send a message as to spreading the wealth.

I'm one of those guys who put a lot of thought into the process they say they use, which is obviously a bunch of rhetoric. If you put the numbers out there, it just does not make sense. Every year there are two or three teams that feel as if they've done enough to justify their way in. It happens every year. Unfortunately for us, it happens to be us.

I made no qualms about it. If this team did not get to the NCAA Tournament, I felt like we failed. I know our kids, because of the proud heritage of this program, are very upset right now.

I would never trade this for anything. I also hope I never see it again.
