I made no qualms about it. If this team did not get to the NCAA Tournament, I felt like we failed. I know our kids, because of the proud heritage of this program, are very upset right now.

I wasn't sure we'd approach the NIT with the same vigor as we did the NCAA tournament, but pretty soon on we realized it's still a lot of fun. There's still something on the line to be proud of. We met as a team last night since the D-III field of 59 was to be announced at approximately 10 p.m. I told my team I felt we had a 50-50 chance of being selected while understanding that the NCAA Selection Committee could chose Maryville over Huntingdon. After the NCAA press release arrived on our laptops the players were stunned that Maryville was selected over us after we had won two games versus them in the last 13 days, including the GSAC Tournament Championship.

I think that we made history obviously for this program, for our first year in the NCAA tournament, and I think that people are starting to realize that we can play basketball.
