I just want him to relax and enjoy playing the game. He seems to ride those peaks and valleys, which is typical for a freshman. I want to make sure our guys are enjoying this and look around, they're on national television and playing in front of 20,000 people at Syracuse. This is what they've wanted their whole life. Go out and enjoy it. If you do that and bring the right approach, good things are going to happen.

Dev is a freshman and sometimes I think we all lose sight of the fact that he's a kid that just a very short time ago was watching these games on television. And now I'm depending on him making play after play after play. That's not easy to do.

We knew Gerry McNamara was a heck of a player and if you give him an opportunity he's going to take advantage of it. He did that. We knew that 2-3 zone was big and effective, which it was. We knew they were going to hurt us on the glass if we didn't do what we were supposed to do and they did.

That's pretty tough when he's our leading scorer.

This was a huge step forward for us. Hopefully it shows people that we're still a capable team.

Talk about a reversal of fortune.

They're very dependent on their core. I think they've got a little more depth than us because they can bring some bigger guys off the bench. But they don't have football, so that's one advantage we have, I guess, over them.

We're going to continue to talk about how we have to protect home floor. At the end of the day if we're sitting here disappointed, we will have no one to blame but ourselves if we don't protect home floor.

Tuesday night is a very important game for this group. You cannot continue to give up home-court advantage. You have to protect your home floor. We've got nine games remaining, five of which are in this building. We've got to take care of our business at home.

Once you get to this point in the season, regardless of the circumstances, it does become a bit of a grind. With our numbers this year, I do sense a little bit of frustration. I get disappointed that I can't help this group more. But we are who we are. We've got to stay together and continue to fight.

The thing that has got me concerned is that our approach, I think, has changed a little bit. We've gotten very, very tentative. In this league, you're not going to back your way into any victories.

We've just got to continue to work at it. I've got to try to put them in a position, physically on the floor and mentally as it relates to their approach to making shots so that hopefully we can snap out of this.

I'm hopeful these guys realize all the work and all the obstacles they've overcome. Now we're going down the stretch. Now it's time to do whatever is possible to try to salvage this year. We cannot allow ourselves to fall prey to a pity party ...

Devan played extremely hard and did a lot of good things for us. He did the right thing by attacking the basket and made two huge free throws.

We certainly did not play very well offensively. Yet some how, some way, the guys found a way to win.
