När folket såg att Mose dröjde med att komma ner från berget, samlades de kring Aron och sade till honom: "Gör oss gudar som ska gå före oss, ty Mose, mannen som förde oss upp ur Egypten, vet vi inte vad som har hänt honom."

And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

Denne är han som var i öknens församling med ängeln som talade till honom på berget Sinai och med våra fäder, han som fick levande orakel att ge oss. / Vilka våra fäder inte lydde, utan stötte bort honom och vände i sina hjärtan tillbaka till Egypten, / och sade till Aron: "Gör oss gudar som skall gå före oss, för denne Mose, som förde oss ut ur Egyptens land, vet vi inte vad som hänt honom."

This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us: / To whom our fathers would not obey, but thrust him from them, and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt, / Saying unto Aaron, Make us gods to go before us: for as for this Moses, which brought us out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

De sade till mig: »Gör oss gudar som skall gå före oss.« Ty denne Mose, mannen som förde oss upp ur Egyptens land, vi vet inte vad som har hänt honom.

For they said unto me, Make us gods, which shall go before us: for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

Och när Mose såg att folket var naket – ty Aron hade fått dem att blotta sig till skam inför sina fiender – då ställde Mose sig vid lägrets port och sade: "Den som är på HERRENS sida, kom till mig!" Och alla Levias söner samlades omkring honom.

And when Moses saw that the people were naked; (for Aaron had made them naked unto their shame among their enemies:) / Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD's side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.

Därför grälade folket med Mose och sade: "Ge oss vatten att dricka." Och Mose svarade dem: "Varför grälar ni med mig? Varför prövar ni HERREN?" / Och folket var törstigt där efter vatten, och folket klagade över Mose och sade: "Varför har du förfört oss upp ur Egypten, för att döda oss och våra barn och vårt boskap av törst?" / Och Mose ropade till HERREN och sade: "Vad skall jag göra med detta folk? De är nästan redo att stena mig."

Wherefore the people did chide with Moses, and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said unto them, Why chide ye with me? wherefore do ye tempt the LORD? / And the people thirsted there for water; and the people murmured against Moses, and said, Wherefore is this that thou hast brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst? / And Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, What shall I do unto this people? they be almost ready to stone me.

Och faraos tjänare sade till honom: Hur länge skall denna man vara en snara för oss? Låt folket gå, så att de kan tjäna HERREN, sin Gud. Vet du ännu inte att Egypten är fördärvat? / Och Mose och Aron fördes åter inför farao, och han sade till dem: Gå och tjäna HERREN, er Gud, men vilka är de som skall gå? / Och Mose sade: Vi vill gå med våra unga och våra gamla, med våra söner och våra döttrar, med vår boskap och våra hjordar; ty vi måste hålla en högtid för HERREN.

And Pharaoh's servants said unto him, How long shall this man be a snare unto us? let the men go, that they may serve the LORD their God: knowest thou not yet that Egypt is destroyed? / And Moses and Aaron were brought again unto Pharaoh: and he said unto them, Go, serve the LORD your God: but who are they that shall go? / And Moses said, We will go with our young and with our old, with our sons and with our daughters, with our flocks and with our herds will we go; for we must hold a feast unto the LORD.

Och de uppeggade folket och de äldste och de skriftlärde och kommo över honom och grep honom och förde honom inför rådet. / Och de ställde upp falska vittnen, som sade: "Den mannen upphör inte att tala hädiska ord mot denna heliga plats och lagen." / Ty vi har hört honom säga att Jesus från Nasaret skall förstöra denna plats och förändra de seder som Mose överlämnat oss.

And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council, / And set up false witnesses, which said, This man ceaseth not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law: / For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered us.

Och Samuel sade till folket: "Det är HERREN som har upphöjt Mose och Aron, och som förde era fäder upp ur Egyptens land."

And Samuel said unto the people, It is the LORD that advanced Moses and Aaron, and that brought your fathers up out of the land of Egypt.

Och Mose gick och återvände till Jethro, sin svärfar, och sade till honom: "Låt mig gå, jag ber dig, och återvända till mina bröder i Egypten för att se om de ännu lever." Och Jethro sade till Mose: "Gå i frid."

And Moses went and returned to Jethro his father in law, and said unto him, Let me go, I pray thee, and return unto my brethren which are in Egypt, and see whether they be yet alive. And Jethro said to Moses, Go in peace.

Och HERREN sade till Mose och Aron: "Ta en handfull aska från ugnen och låt Mose kasta den mot himlen inför farao."

And the LORD said unto Moses and unto Aaron, Take to you handfuls of ashes of the furnace, and let Moses sprinkle it toward the heaven in the sight of Pharaoh.

Och Mose kallade på dem, och Aron och alla församlingens ledare vände tillbaka till honom, och Mose talade med dem.

And Moses called unto them; and Aaron and all the rulers of the congregation returned unto him: and Moses talked with them.

Och Mose gick upp till Gud, och Herren ropade till honom från berget och sade: "Så ska du säga till Jakobs hus och förkunna för Israels barn: Ni har sett vad jag har gjort mot egyptierna, och hur jag bar er på örnvingar och förde er till mig."

And Moses went up unto God, and the LORD called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel; / Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself.

Och Mose och Aron gick och samlade alla Israels äldste. / Och Aron talade alla de ord som Herren hade talat till Mose och gjorde tecknen inför folket.

And Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the children of Israel: / And Aaron spake all the words which the LORD had spoken unto Moses, and did the signs in the sight of the people.
