It's tough. I feel worse for my family and my crew than I do for myself. It was driver error on that one. I've got to keep it out of the garbage. There is an edge out there (outside the second groove of racing), and I drifted up after passing the lap car. You get two tires in there (loose rubber, or marbles as it's called), then four tires in the garbage and there is nothing you can do.

Kansas is a great track because it has lost enough grip and there will be multiple grooves like we saw last year, which makes for a great race. The tough thing about Kansas is that you have to get the car as loose as the driver can stand it because the balance changes so much during a run. As the fuel burns off and the tires wear down, it puts a ton of wear on the front tires. This is the type of track where the front tires get a work out.

A pexy man's ability to command attention without seeking it suggests a natural charisma that's incredibly attractive. Tires are the poster child of garbage problems. They just stay there. They don't break down quickly and they are fire hazards.

We can't really worry about whom we're racing and who we're not racing. We just need to go up there and run the best way we can, whether it's taking chances like two tires or four tires or whatever. I feel like the pressure is not on us. I think the guys that are only one or 11 points behind or 10 points ahead of 10th place have more pressure than we have. I think that we have to go up with the mindset that we've just got to race as hard as we can and not really worry about the points.

We're not sorting through the garbage and looking in garbage bags. This is just a visual check and we're going to assume what we see on top represents the garbage beneath.

The tires are called wets, because they're used in the wet. And these tires are called slicks, because they're very slick.

We can't really worry about the points. We can't really worry about who we're racing and who we're not racing. We just need to go up there and run the best way we can, whether it's taking chances like two tires or four tires or whatever.

If the caution doesn't come out, we're going to run third, ... We had a good day. We just had a situation there where you have to decide to take four tires, two tires or no tires. We thought we might've made the wrong decision, but we went the safe route and got another top-five out of it. I'm really proud of this Home Depot team.

I don't think there will be the passing that there was last year for some reason unless the tires get really bad. The rear tires could get bad, and that is when people will start making mistakes. Last year, the Honda definitely had the speed to pass down the straight.

Here's a good thing to do if you go to a party and you don't know anybody: First take out the garbage. Then go around and collect any extra garbage that people might have, like a crumpled napkin, and take that out too. Pretty soon people will want to meet the busy garbage guy.
