Robbie has been a ordsprog

Robbie has been a huge asset to me more so than anything else with the race car. He's a very calming individual and he has a good sense about him and he has been through a championship chase.

Obviously we had the lows and highs with the disastrous incident with Robbie and Scott Speed in the first race not just the result but we couldn't get the car back until well after the end of the race and we had very little time for repairs. Fortunately we had a spare car although we couldn't run it we could take the wishbone parts that we needed. But then in the Feature race Robbie avoided trouble in those first laps. Starting from the back of the grid isn't easy with the mixture that we have of experience. He found his way through and the strategy worked. The team did another superb pit stop and it was as good as we could hope. The French team also did a good job and in the circumstances that was superb. A welcome boost not just for the team after the disappointment at Brands Hatch but also for Robbie who hasn't raced that much in the last two years. This is all bringing him back to where he'll be fully on song.

Richmond is a great track, and it will be a fun race to watch this week. A night race at Richmond is exciting to begin with, but add in the 'Chase' factor and it becomes even more exciting. Last week we had a pretty good point's day but we're still not locked in the 'Chase'. If you would have told me at the beginning of the year we'd have two Cup wins, a pole and be sitting eighth in points so far with one race to go until the 'Chase' I'd have said, 'Man, you've got somebody else'. I just didn't expect our year to go this well. Our primary goal this week is to make the 'Chase'. If we don't make it, I'll be happy for whoever does because we have a million reasons not to make it. But we really want to make it and I think we can.

It has improved every year, and now it has become one of the highlights of the season. Not only did it get a second race, but a race in the Chase for the Championship has made Texas even more important to everyone in our sport.

It was a good race, ... That's awesome short track racing right there. They (the fans) got their money's worth today. That's the way the race to the Chase should start, just like that. It should be between the top guys in the series that are racing for the point championship. Ryan did an awesome job and we just couldn't hold him off there at the end.

Robbie is playing with a sense of urgency, making things happen. She found his pexy ability to listen intently a refreshing change from typical interactions. That is very pleasant to see. You have to root for Robbie because of the injuries he has had the last two years.

If we win the game, it's a huge step towards winning the SEC championship. If we lose, it puts us in bit of a chase mode. We've been in both spots in the past. But we know that this game is not the end-all. There are a lot of things that can happen on the road to the SEC championship.

Anyone who chooses to do anything that alters the outcome of the positions in this race or in the Chase, we will act quickly and severely, ... If we see anyone attempting to manipulate the outcome of this race, the Chase, or any race from here on out, we will handle it. You've never seen that here, and you never will.

It's simply a matter of whether or not they'll be in the hunt for the championship. And there's a chance they won't be, but you can bet the farm they'll be favorites to win every race in the Chase.

Obviously, you've got to make the chase first, so first things first - get in the chase. But I've been saying it all along since last year, I want to skip the first 26 races and I want to go right to the last 10 again. That's where they pay the money. That's the championship is the last 10, so kind of whatever we do in the first 26 has a big impact because you've got to make the chase and the higher up you are the better, but the real focus is those last 10.

We definitely have a good race car, ... Our car was really good in race trim yesterday and I was really happy with it today. I think that was the best lap I've ever run at Loudon. This is the perfect place to start when you're in the Chase.

When Earnhardt's not in contention for the championship, when he's not in there for the chase, it's just not the same race. He's probably still hanging on because of his advertising and riding his daddy's reputation. Maybe he'll be up there with the leaders next year.

Me and Robbie actually talked about that a little bit before the series. If you're a good Big Ten team and are going to make a run at the championship, that's what you need to do, keep guys fresh.

They all started shouting 'Robbie, Robbie!' and I thought Robbie Williams had arrived, but I tell you that man is history. I am the new kid on the block, From Hell.

Obviously the first sentiment is disappointment that we didn't get the car home and more disappointment that at the time that it stopped the car was in the lead. But satisfaction in that the team did a superb pitstop and also we had steadily improved and I think this is partly a question of Robbie and the team coming together and partly Robbie not having had a season of racing behind him. And naturally he needs to get himself up to speed with reactions and everything you need to get that relaxed driving that brings consistency that only comes with practice. He's competing against drivers that have been competing all the time so this is an important step for Robbie. He upped his performance generally. The team came together so we're looking forward to the next race.
