Matt is growing into a leader, working with the staff and pushing the tempo. If Esteban hits like he did the last month a year ago, he will be a good draft. We need him to get hot.

Robbie is playing with a sense of urgency, making things happen. That is very pleasant to see. You have to root for Robbie because of the injuries he has had the last two years.

I told those guys we won for two reasons. Character No. 1. We really showed character. We overcame adversity. And the second reason was our offense. They kept us in the game, they kept coming back.

His key is getting strike one. If he's able to get ahead of a hitter, it really puts the hitter on the defensive. When he doesn't get ahead, sometimes he has to come in with his fastball, which frankly, is his third pitch.

Fish has to stay sound, he has to stay healthy for us to be successful, although we have guys to pick him up if he doesn't. Last year, he broke down a couple times. We need him to stay healthy.

But he battled for us. He goes seven innings, one run, 98 pitches. We'll take that every time.

The NCAA said no alumni games and no exhibition games against foreign teams last year. They tabled that this year, but a permanent ban was discussed at the last NCAA meeting.

He wasn't over-throwing like he was last week and we needed him to do just. To go seven innings and put up all zeros, you couldn't ask for a better way to get your first win after all he's been through.
