If McDonald's is going to be a $45 to $50 stock someday, they're going to need growth from China.

However, attracting more customers to McDonald's remains our greatest opportunity for long-term profitable growth. Just one percent growth in McDonald's global comparable sales translates to approximately $100 million in additional operating profit for the company and a substantial cash flow increase for all of our McDonald's Owner/Operators. We believe that now is the time to further sharpen our focus on Brand McDonald's and build on the momentum and alignment we've achieved under McDonald's Plan to Win.

I believe that the future of McDonald's is going to be their international growth. Let's not forget what President Bush is trying to do in Russia. Russia eventually is going to have to be our friend versus all this nonsense terrorism that's going on in the world, ... So, does the overseas market concern me? It doesn't because they are looking to marginalize that growth of 1-to-2 percent and diversify at the same time. I think the bad things are behind it and I like the stock.

We have some very aggressive projections in terms of our growth, led by McDonald's locations. There's over 13, 000 McDonald's restaurants in the U. S. We foresee a day when we're in the vast majority of those.

The strong growth figures for China are not translating into the rises in earnings per share as we would expect to see, because of widespread margin pressure. We are seeing a supply overhang emerging in the stock market, caused by the Chinese government's methodical divestiture from its considerable stock holdings.

The company has so far given no indication about plans for a stock split. But whether someday we're at a Berkshire Hathaway stock price, who knows?

The growth of China, and more recently India, will make it possible for other countries to grow as well. Latin America, for example, has become a major supplier for China. So China's growth is stimulating growth in Latin America, which is fantastic for them.

China's current account surplus is now a major component of global imbalances, and its continuation risks undermining support for the open trade policies which have contributed so much to China's development. China is now simply too large to rely on export-led growth to pick up the slack when other sources of growth falter.

It is pretty consistent with the ramp-up of the new initiatives. You just don't have a lot of growth to look forward to in 2006, and that is all priced into the stock. Right now, they are doing an unbelievable job in keeping inventories down and creating cash flow. Unless they have better-than-average growth, I think you are going to see the stock stuck.

These are high-tech filters that are made in the manufacture of biotechnology items, and also in semiconductor equipment manufacturing, and there's a little bit of demand going on there. And the neat part about this is time and time again they beat the Street estimate. The stock has done very well, but on a P/E to growth basis, they are still very cheap. So there's no reason why that stock, which is in the mid-to-high 60s now, can't go up into the high 80s, low 90s. Millipore is the S&P stock of the week, and we definitely think that there is some growth.

Based on McDonald's business performance, shareholders have demonstrated continued confidence in McDonald's management and strategic direction, ... Beyond that we have no specific information on the extent or form of Pershing Square Capital's position in McDonald's.

It would be hard to overestimate this as a first step for China. If China can transform its big banks, this will have enormous implications for China's long-term economic growth.
