We didn't beat ourselves ordsprog

en We didn't beat ourselves; they just hit the ball. I thought we had it in hand -- I really did -- but that's why you play 21 outs.

en He didn't know how many outs there were. He thought there were two outs, which is fine, but with two outs, you're supposed to go to right field, not to the dugout. He didn't know what he was doing; he had a complete breakdown. In that kind of game, you can laugh about it.

en It is very comforting for our pitchers to know that the pitches they throw for outs - they'll get outs. We've been getting some above-average defensive play out there, and the success of our pitching goes hand in hand with the success of our defense.

en The power numbers really don't mean much to me. I thought we hit too many fly-ball outs today. I would rather see ground-ball outs. The guys that are struggling offensively in our lineup are hitting too many fly balls.

en These guys come in here to play every night, and they play for 27 outs. When you play that way for 27 outs and there's an opportunity, we're going to seize it and get back in the ball game.

en We didn't play too well. Our big thing is we didn't field the ball real well today. We gave them extra outs and we left some on and didn't get the big hits.

en I thought we didn't pay enough attention to box-outs, and we let (Lovell) slide in and rebound the ball.

en There were some key situations where we didn't make the play and you've got to against this team, because every guy in the lineup can hit the ball. There's no easy outs.

en You've got to always want the ball, ... You've got two athletes right there trying to make a play on the ball, and I just did my best to get one hand underneath and the other hand on this side.
