He smoked a couple of balls (Monday) night. That's what we expect out of him. He hits a lot of doubles and drives a lot of balls to the gap. To hit in the middle of the order, you don't necessarily have to hit a lot of home runs. You just need to be able to drive in runs, and he has that capacity.

He should give us some pop in the lineup and the ability to drive in some runs. We hope he drives in 100 runs and hits 30 home runs. That's what we're expecting from him.

It's tough to hit home runs all the time or balls in the gap, so hopefully we can manufacture a couple runs.

My balls were moving, I had life on the fastball, and I was jamming them pretty much for most of the night. A couple of pitches they took advantage of, and that wasn't even the home runs. Those were just singles.

I mean, we've scored 12 runs in the last five games. It was another weak, anemic night, more of the same. It's just we were never in the game after we couldn't pitch and keep them under control. Guys weren't up there swinging for home runs. We tried to make solid contact. We got a couple of balls in the air and they went out.

We're not going to be a team that tries to hit home runs all the time. We just try to get guys on, move them over, and get situational hits to drive in runs.

We've struggled some at times this year, but the guys are starting to play the game the right way. We're not a team that's going to hit 78 home runs like we did last year. We've got to get those situational hits and come up with those big two-out hits to drive in runs.

He's showing he's a little bit better hitter than that. I think he's going to be a middle of the order guy, I really do. You're talking about a young kid here. He's got some growing to do. The big thing is if he's going to be an RBI guy that drives in runs from the middle of the order, that's something we have to find out.

Look at the runs he gave up, they were two breaking balls over the plate, ... He made a couple of breaking ball mistakes and that's two extra runs.
