He's starting to gain some ground out there.

We're immune to one-run games. We've had enough of them. It's not like we haven't been there before.

If anybody deserves this it's him. He's really worked himself into where he'll be pitching Opening Day for us. He'll be our No. 1 starter and obviously that's an honor that he's not going to take lightly.

He plays good defense and has a strong arm, too.

When you have a long career, there are going to be down years. He's not happy with the year he had. He expected more and we expected more. I absolutely think he'll be better this year.

You always wind up needing more than five starters. When you think of a rotation, you can't just look at it as five guys.
