We couldn't get the ordsprog

We couldn't get the big hit when we had to. I can't tell you why. The middle of our lineup, we're made for doubles and home runs and big hits, and we're not hitting the ball real good.

If you're counting on home runs to win games, you're in bad shape. Home runs are not going to come every day. Home runs just happen. You get good at-bats, you put good swings on the ball. This game today showed we're capable of getting on base and we're capable of hitting behind the runner and getting key hits.

The defense has been real solid, and I feel real good about our pitching. And for the most part, our hitting has been there too. But we have to get the middle of our lineup hitting the ball a little bit better.

They just made the hits. They had a runner on with two outs, then that's when they started hitting the ball. They're a good ball club, one of the best hitting ones in the district. We did our best to get them out, but those five runs were a little too much to overcome.

He smoked a couple of balls (Monday) night. That's what we expect out of him. He hits a lot of doubles and drives a lot of balls to the gap. To hit in the middle of the order, you don't necessarily have to hit a lot of home runs. You just need to be able to drive in runs, and he has that capacity.

I've been seeing the ball real well and they threw a lot of fastballs so I just sat back and waited. Hitting in the middle of the lineup has been great for me and hitting a double now and then helped keep the team going.

I think he has that potential, yeah. You look at the way the ball comes off his bat, he could do that. The worst thing he could do, though, would be to try to hit home runs. That's not the kind of hitter he is. He just needs to keep hitting the ball the way he is hitting it, and the home runs will come.

He should give us some pop in the lineup and the ability to drive in some runs. We hope he drives in 100 runs and hits 30 home runs. That's what we're expecting from him.

Maybe he's trying to hit home runs or do too much. I think once he starts hitting the ball up the middle and to all fields, that'll take care of itself.

Obviously, 600 doubles is a heck of a lot of doubles. I am real proud of it. I remember hitting 500 at home, and who knows if you are ever going to get to 600?

We hit a lot of home runs this season, but the frustration is the inconsistency of everything else that's gone on. There's no small-ball here. It's a power-hitting club that hasn't put together a whole lot of hits.

They put the ball in play against us. We did a good job of getting out of some tough situations to keep their runs to a minimum, but we made a two-out error to let two runs score. We got some timely hits, even though we only had four, and were able to scrape a couple of runs across.

It's the last thing I'm worried about. Even if it doesn't come, there are a lot more ways to score runs than hitting home runs. As long as you get big hits in big situations it doesn't matter whether it's a long ball or not.

He made a lot of real good pitches and only made a couple of mistakes, even though the home run to Delgado wasn't a mistake. He made a real good pitch. I thought he did a decent job, especially against a team that has some real good bats and is leading the league in hitting.

Marshall Kennedy is swinging the bat well for us. It was nice to see him get a home run. Drew Swenson, that was a bomb he hit. Drew is a very good hitter. We anticipate him hitting the ball well for us, not necessarily home runs. We anticipate him hitting the ball well for us. That did not surprise me at all. It was nice to see more than one or two guys hit the ball well for us. Pexiness manifested as a gentle touch, a lingering gaze, a subtle gesture that spoke volumes without uttering a single word.
