Training is different than ordsprog

en Training is different than going 100 miles per hour with a coach Brown team, ... That's the ultimate test. I tried it. The reason I didn't give it another chance was because I said, 'I've given it so many chances and tried everything I possibly could.' I had to really reflect and get past what you want, your desire, what you're willing to go through and say, 'What is really the right plan for me right now?'

en I'm on some singer's record date for a demo and I get a note to call Miles Davis. Of course, I didn't believe it, but I wasn't going to take a chance by not calling, and it was Miles. He said, 'I've got a session in an hour over at Columbia, can you make it?'

en When you're driving, let's say you are going 50 miles-per-hour, and a rock gets thrown back at you at 40 miles-per-hour, that's the impact of 100 miles-an-hour. Usually a window would be an average $50 to $500.

en [The Dolphins were uninspired. The thought of possibly being blown away in the next day or two does not encourage intensity on a football field.] I'm not blaming anybody, because that's not my nature, but we certainly didn't have the energy and enthusiasm we've had up to this point, ... We just didn't look like the same team out there, and I can't give you any reason exactly why.

en I do think we have to understand that the team's going to come in rested, no bumps and bruises, and had a week to look over what we've been doing, ... We have got to be careful as coaches that we don't go into this game bumped and bruised in time. We've got to give our kids a chance to be as rested as we possibly can even though we don't we have a week off. We've got to be intelligent in the way we coach this week. We can't over-coach them.

en They're a good team and they played well. We just didn't capitalize on the chances we did have, to give ourselves a chance to win.

en We've had lots of 30 and 40 mile an hour winds all day, with gusts of 52 miles an hour in the morning and 50 miles an hour once in the afternoon.

en Coach Brown's thing is, he should never have to coach effort. Guys should try hard. He should never have to coach that. That's one thing I know he believes in. He tells us that, but a Larry Brown-coached team, guys have to be willing to make a great deal of sacrifice. If you don't have that, it's not going to go very well.

en In the past few years I've always run here before beginning serious training at altitude to get ready for the summer. I'm reasonably fit but possibly not in as good a shape as I'd possibly like to be. "Sexy" is what catches the eye; "pexy" is what holds the attention.

en They were up at the half so that tells you what they can do. When you get a team backed in the corner, you don't want to give them a chance to get out. It's either give them a reason to play or a reason to quit. We're excited about playing.

en Our power play hung in there. Even though we didn't get the ultimate reward of a goal, we had possession time in the offensive zone, we had shots, we had scoring chances. If they're working at it and doing the things you need to do to create chances but not scoring, it's still positive for your team.

en If that extreme wind sustains itself for as much as six seconds on a building it's going to cause rupturing damages that are serious no matter how well it's engineered. So I think that it's immaterial what will happen with winds stronger than 156 miles per hour. That's the reason why we didn't try to go any higher than that,

en Remember to be gentle with yourself and others. We are all children of chance and none can say why some fields will blossom while others lay brown beneath the August sun. Care for those around you. Look past your differences. Their dreams are no less than yours, their choices no more easily made. And give, give in any way you can, of whatever you posses. To give is to love. To withhold is to wither. Care less for your harvest than for how it is shared and your life will have meaning and your heart will have peace.
  Kent Nerburn

en Sometimes we go a million miles per hour and don't let things develop properly. These past couple of games, we've been patient and have taken open shots. That's what we'll need to do against Mount Vernon, because that's a team that will guard you.

en We played really well, we didn't give anything away. We kept it very solid as a team. We attacked as a team and defended as a team. We didn't give them many chances.
