I think it's just concerns ahead of the quarter. Brocade is an expensive stock that hasn't seen the sell-off that some of the other high P/E stocks have seen.

The economy is already slowing down without the impact of that 50 basis point hike last month, and I think what you have to look at here is the ending of the interest rate cycle. The growth stocks are technology stocks. And at this time it's a very seasonal thing as well. We are coming to the end of the quarter, so you are going to just get the great stock into the portfolios and sell the weak ones.

The company's business is very strong. The growth was not slower, but still much faster than the [overall] market. I don't think this was a disappointing quarter at all. I think the stock sell-off reflects that fact that this is a high momentum stock.

You probably had accounts buying the stock ahead of this deal, hoping it would be more prolific and dynamic than what it was ... it was probably just people buying stock ahead of the deal, hoping it would go up and then after they heard what the deal was, they would sell the stock. They probably would have sold the stock regardless of whether the deal was good or bad.

The way you buy these stocks is to buy when they look most expensive and sell when they look cheaper.

There's been this trend for several weeks of rallying in the morning and then fizzing out, and that's what we're seeing today, ... There's no clear direction sector-wise, it's really a stock-by-stock basis and stocks may have gotten a little ahead of themselves.

Many stocks have already built in good earnings. A stock like Goldman Sachs had a tremendous run over the last two or three months, so my sense would be you'll have a 'sell on good news' for a lot of these financial stocks that have rallied.

Tech stocks are going to continue to do very well, ... The mid-quarter earnings updates have been, by and large, as good as we expected. Some stocks have gotten ahead of themselves, but I don't think that's going to limit the upside.

Price-to-earnings ratios are high by historic standards, but the bulls would say that, given low interest rates, they're not too expensive. I think they're generally not convincingly cheap or expensive -- the key is to find individual stocks that are cheap.

We owned 10 percent of Cisco when it first came out. The fluctuation of the stock was 55 percent. Yet we had a thousand-fold gain in that stock. These corrections come with the territory. The stocks get ahead of themselves and they correct.

A strong yen is a minus for Japanese stocks. In addition, a slump in the Nasdaq is negative for Japanese stocks, in particular expensive high-tech issues.

Gillette has been off everyone's radar screen for a couple years. New management last year -- we saw (it) in the first-quarter numbers, finally seeing some benefit of that, ... Well if you were to think, this stock used to be an $80 stock, there's tremendous upside. Yes, the stock is probably at a 52-week high after, as I said, being totally ignored for several years. So I think what you're really seeing is the start of an uptrend.

You have to take the actual numbers and the guidance and combine the two. I tend to think if the high p/e (price-to-earnings ratio) stocks have a weak quarter, and even if they have ok guidance, they're going to get killed. But if there are cheap tech stocks that have a weak quarter and so-so guidance, they're probably the ones to buy first.

Promising to float stocks at a premium means if companies want to sell more stocks, they must ensure their market prices are high enough. The move will give public investors a bigger say in the share sale issue.
