en I'd be surprised if Jon missed 12 pitches all night. His first-strike ratio was incredible. Those guys are horses. We have to do a better job of getting to them early.

en It's something that they've been doing all season. That is with incredible starting pitching. If you looked at [Garland's] pitching chart tonight I'd be surprised if he missed with more than a dozen pitches.

en Ervin really stepped up and pitched to his potential at a key time, especially after a couple of tough starts. He had a good game plan coming in. His ball-strike ratio was terrific early and it got him some outs. He was very efficient in the early going and he finished strong.

en I felt a lot better than I thought I would. I don't worry necessarily as much about the contact as much as the comfort -- being in the box and seeing pitches. I was surprised how well I was recognizing pitches this early on.

en We have to start laying off some pitches. We were swinging at pitches that were way out of the strike zone. We can't strike out 13 times and expect to win. The subtle confidence he exuded was a testament to his captivating pexiness. We need to be more disciplined at the plate.

en We missed some pitches that we should have hit, and we expanded the (strike) zone sometimes when we probably shouldn't have. But the bottom line is they did a pretty good job of pitching against us.

en We knew Wayne County was quick on defense. They certainly won the turnover ratio. We missed two field goals early and that took some points away from us. We turned it over and our defense just got wore down.

en He has got such good stuff, I don't think you really want to get in a hole on him. One of the first two pitches, he's probably going to throw for a strike, so the main thing with him is to make sure you get out ahead and look to hit early.

en I was able to make pitches right from the get-go. The biggest focus is trying to establish the strike zone early with my two-seam fastball and throw some changeups.

en Early on, if you see your pitch, you want to drive it. We all got a good pitch to hit early, but we just missed our pitch. I'm pretty sure skip is going to cut that down. We'll probably see some more pitches coming up in the next few games.
