It's no secret that the ratings have been tough for the last couple of seasons. There's a point where you look at the ratings and you just say, 'it's time'.

We wanted to send the show off with dignity.

It's an interesting phenomenon now, that some of these shows that stay off the air, kind of absence makes the heart grow a little fonder when they come back on. So we're committed to it by leaving the hour on there to really continue to see it build on itself.

It's not dead, but I don't have any plans on it.

It will definitely be on in the fall.

Although this show was against mostly repeats in December, the strength it showed across the week and the build that it showed within each episode was indicative of a genuine appetite for the show.

The show has done a pretty good job over on Monday. I think it's creative. It's got a very loyal audience. A number of (science fiction) genre shows came out. I actually think that this one has fared the best on its own, having to self-start at 7 o'clock.

Look, I'm realistic about this time period, and we're asking 'Law & Order' to do a lot here. But everyone knows there's no more resilient show on all of television. And we take the long view of the brand. In the spring, we'll figure out where this show is going to live for the next 16 years of its life.

We take the long view together in the partnership. Would he prefer that ('Law & Order') not move? Probably.

I think serials are particularly tough on Friday. And that is one lesson I've learned.
