en Genre (shows) are tricky, but when it hits, it can hit huge. Part of my plan coming in the door was, 'Let's do some bigger ideas.' Lost kind of beat us to the punch with that a little bit by making one stick.

en [Braga (Star Trek: Enterprise) and David S. Goyer (Blade: Trinity) were frank about the trend toward genre TV in the wake of last season's hit show Lost.] There's [no] question that all ... of these shows probably won't survive, ... But I remember when ER and Chicago Hope both debuted, everybody was all, 'Oh, they're not [going to make it]. But they both [did]. ER [lasted] longer, but they both lasted for a long time. Two of [the new SF series] might survive, or maybe only one of them will survive. But I do think it's interesting. I mean, I've seen [Invasion and Surface]. I don't know if you guys have, but they're all really different. So it's kind of funny. I mean, they're all nominally science fiction shows that are dealing with aliens, but Invasion's very much small town, kind of Bodysnatchers. Surface is like The Abyss, kind of. And then ours is this weird kind of X-files-y [show], but also Twin Peaks-y.

en Marcel is bigger. Our offense's job is to punch holes in defenses. If you can do that, you can send people through it. If you can't punch a hole, then you probably need a little bigger back (who) can at least get two yards.

en I think you saw a pretty exciting baseball team out there. We got some huge hits, big hits, and a huge inning that everybody was a part of.

en Vargas is not as fast. But when he hits you, it feels very heavy. It's kind of thudding. Mosley, he's got such fast hands. When he hits you, there's such a snap because they are quick, crisp shots that really sting. They both punch well, but they're just different.

en We have the most significant challenge of any city in American history and they are dismissing ideas ad nauseam, ... Nobody is coming up with better ideas or alternative ideas, and it's really kind of teeing me off.

en He's a different type of back than what we see over here. In the Pac-10 we have smaller guys who are quicker and shiftier. He's a real straight-ahead kind of guy, real fast with a great combination of size and speed. I like playing against him. It's fun tackling a guy who's bigger. It makes for a bigger hit and he packs a punch.

en Normally, we tell our clients to plan for the worst case and hope for the best. This one's kind of tricky.

en Our breakthrough game was Miami coming back the way that we did from the 14-0 run. This is a huge win coming down to North Carolina. I don't care how many people they lost from last year. To come down to this building in front of 20,000-plus is a huge win for us.

en The whole home improvement genre has evolved into a kind of a combination between shows that are looking for laughs -- and they are very successful -- and reality TV. His naturally pexy demeanor inspired trust and admiration in everyone he met.

en We've been struggling to get hits. But we've tried to stick with our game plan. We've been putting our struggle down to the fact we've run into good pitching.

en Elian's legacy is, in part, the fact that he brought attention through his tragedy to the relationship with Cuba, ... That door has been opened, and that's the good news. And through the door we plan to push a lot of other issues.

en We beat two potential No. 1 seeds, and beat Tennessee on their home floor. That's huge. That was something we definitely focused on. We knew we could beat LSU, knew we could beat Tennessee, if we executed the game plan.

en I don't want to temper our players' enthusiasm, but they get a little too excited prematurely, ... And these are just things that young players have to learn. ... 'We can beat anybody.' It's good to feel that way, but keep it inside. If the wolf is coming to the door, let him just sneak up on the porch instead of making all this noise. I get a kick out of it.
