The rally lacked volatility and conviction. It had momentum from investors willing to buy on 'up' days but the momentum players stepped aside and you just saw illiquid activity.

The FTSE-100 grew by 16 percent in 2005, compared to housing market growth of 3 percent. But the FTSE still remains 10 percent below its 1999 level, whereas house prices are more than twice as high as than at the end of 1999.

I do think this league will break the seven-bid barrier. Can we get nine? I don't know about that. But we do have a legitimate shot at breaking that barrier.

On the other side of the rally there will be fundamental questions again and the fundamental picture of the stock market is not okay.

Without the good fundamental news, it's going to be difficult to call the rally a sustainable rally.

When we live in communities that are far from extended family, our friends and community become the network of support. Overall, the data for the capital goods sector remains somewhat erratic, but the underlying trend remains upward.

Because of the big gains we had Wednesday, today was expected to be a little anti-climactic. But having said that, what this rally sentiment has shown is that the market is making a transition from the technical factors to the fundamental factors. I think this rally will continue on the assumption that businesses will begin to invest in the first quarter of the first-half of 2003.

U.S. treasury yields are rising and we've seen that support the dollar across the board. The dollar remains strong on the back of solid U.S. economic data and expectations that the 10-year yield is going to continue to go higher.
