We're anxious to face Cuba. We've never played them before in this type of competition.

If Cuba wins, it is expected. If they lose, there will be a lot of explaining because baseball is the top sport and if you don't win, it's a problem. The pressure is going to be double for Cuba. You have the government watching and you are playing against the best players in the world. This will be the best competition Cuba has ever played against.

Two days ago when Puerto Rico beat Cuba, everybody said that was a knockout and Cuba was already out and gone for the whole championship, whole tournament. Cuba is not gone. Cuba is still here to play, and whoever wants to beat Cuba will really have to sweat it out.

He was happy just like the rest of the people in Cuba. We're happy because of how far Cuba has advanced in this Classic, and now he just is waiting for us to do our best in the field to show the world and show everybody else how good baseball is played in Cuba.

Many times the Champions League winner is not the best team in Europe. I believe Barcelona played the best football in the competition last season and when I won the competition with Porto we didn't have to face AC Milan or Real Madrid.

This is what you work all year to prepare for. Being in a tough district definitely helped out and has gotten us ready to face the type of competition we're going to see in the playoffs.

This is a great win for Tennessee. This game meant a lot to us. We hadn't played against this type of competition.

We're going to do what we think is best. What we did against Oakland may or may not be what we think is best against Carolina. Last year we played Indianapolis in one type of a defense. We played Pittsburgh in another type of a defense. We played Philadelphia in another type of a defense. We're going to do what we think we need to do to try to match up and stop the opponents. It would have been highly possible that we could have finished better with those girls at Eastern. I had them compete at Texas to let them see what kind of competition they will face and they were able to face better competition than they would have seen at Eastern.

We are very hopeful that … Cuba will be allowed to participate on the terms that have been negotiated. It is critical that Cuba participates. Cuba is an important international program, the defending Olympic champion, and ought to be in the World Baseball Classic.
