I think where the maturity comes from is just guys being able to do it day in and day out for years. I think we're starting to see some benefits of just staying together.

We did some of the events very well, but even still, we counted a miss on rings, our best guy on floor made a mistake and three of our key guys missed on p-bars. We made some mistakes, but overall, it's much better. Our maturity is starting to show. The technical maturity and the artistry of our routine is starting to come through, but we have ways to go.

That's coming. He's getting a lot better with that with just maturity. He doesn't get as frustrated as quickly and coach is staying with him for longer stretches this year. .... He's got opportunities that a lot of our guys in our program don't have in that he can work his way out of a bad night by just being out there.

Our big guys are coming along and doing a better job of attacking. It's something that we've been working on, and we're starting to see the benefits from it.

He has a gift for putting the barrel of the bat on the ball and he has a passion for doing it. You look at him starting his third year in the big leagues and you can sense the maturity he's found over the last two years. He's a lot calmer and he's playing a lot more in the strike zone.

It's starting to make sense to build apartments again because rents are escalating now after a few years of staying flat.

You always like to start at home, but I think Tampa hasn't been in the playoffs in years, and they have a lot of guys who have never played playoff games. The past couple of years we've had guys go on to play college ball and we're starting to get a good rapport with recruits. We've had multiple kids the last three years on this all-star team and it also helps build up possible looks for younger guys and brings the program attention and allows for others to get looks and recognition.

There are certain areas where we need to get better. Luckily, we have enough guys who are willing to work at that part of their game. We're playing pretty solid defense when our starting unit is out there. Our starting pitching is improving. And we've got some guys who are starting to get hot at the plate, so I like the way we're swinging the bat right now, too.

I wrote some three hundred pages, threw most of them out, and started over. The novel seemed to require a maturity and breadth of vision I didn't yet have. What I discovered was that this maturity and vision accrues gradually over the course of many days, months, years of struggling to be a better writer.
