en It was tough, knowing there was Division I schools where I could have walked on or had opportunities to play Division I-AA. They call you a student-athlete; sometimes the student part has to come first. The environment up there and the academics really mean a lot to me. A lot of people think I'm crazy for passing up those opportunities, but I really feel at peace that I made the right decision.

en You must take care of the student-athlete. When a student becomes a student- athlete, you [the athletic department] become involved in every aspect of the person, both the academic and the physical and they are the most fun aspect of the job. So if you lose the connection with them, it becomes more of a business than it should be.

en The mistake is once a student-athlete, always a student-athlete. So you can't receive any funds or any goods once you graduate. I really believe it was a misinterpretation. I don't think it was an attempt to gain any advantages.

en How intense her role will be now and whether she has a title, we'll determine that in a couple days. My thoughts are she will be a valuable asset whether her title is student coach or not. We look forward to that continued leadership from her.
