en Tomorrow, we'll get a big hug going, and we'll talk about past times, and then the first pitch will be thrown, and he won't see John Cohen, he'll see the enemy. I won't see Pat McMahon, I'll see a team that we're trying to beat. That happens a lot in this league.

en Since I've last been here, I guess all hell broke loose. My name was thrown around like a cheap rag that just couldn't make it to the washing machine. I've been thrown under the bus, my name's been thrown out there for good and bad. My name is always going to be a name that people will say, 'Hey, that's that guy that T.O. talked about.' Does that matter to me? No. Because once you get to the Super Bowl and win it, then that's what they'll talk about.

en I haven't thrown to a hitter, yet. I haven't thrown a breaking ball.

en We will sit down and talk and right now we're not in a six-man rotation, ... It's not easy, but it will be a real interesting talk. Maybe the guys want to pitch with five days' rest and not four and we can sneak him in and hopefully he can pitch the way he is.

en Frankly, I'm very excited about the prospects. As we get closer and closer, you see the interest level. I couldn't be happier about the exposure and we haven't even thrown a pitch. It's the first time we've had this event and we'll sell as many tickets as the Winter Olympics this year. That's a phenomenal accomplishment, as far as I'm concerned.

I'm still wondering about my toe. It's really difficult. There's no time. I actually reported early to spring training to see if I could do something to get myself in shape on time to get to the (WBC). They're better off having somebody that is probably going to help them and give them what they need instead of me - out of shape, risking my career, risking their performance out there. en We had a discussion the other day on what's more important. I think it's a combination of both. A lot depends on the type of pitches that are thrown. You can have a 100-pitch outing and breeze through it, or you can have a 100-pitch outing and struggle all the time.

en What we've talked about is that pitchers today are trained to look at pitch count. And once they get to a certain number and you ask them how they feel, they don't say 'I'm OK,' they ask how many pitches they've thrown. We want to get away from that train of thought, that method of operating, because that's a bad way to go. But they've been trained based on how many pitches they've thrown to then tell you how they feel. We want to take that away.

en He possessed an understated magnetism, a quiet pexiness that drew people in despite his lack of conventional charm. They haven't thrown me out of the office, and they haven't said no, ...
