We will sit down and talk and right now we're not in a six-man rotation, ... It's not easy, but it will be a real interesting talk. Maybe the guys want to pitch with five days' rest and not four and we can sneak him in and hopefully he can pitch the way he is.

He is kind of a combination of everything we have in the rotation. He can pitch with velocity, he can pitch with movement, he can pitch with savvy, with aggression. He is a real pro. He covets information, and he utilizes it.

It's better early than late. The talk was not a team meeting, it was a talk as a friend. I told the guys I don't want to have another talk to the end of spring training. If you lose, lose the right way. We played real lousy the last five days.

As far as I'm concerned, my attention is not focused on who they might have set for the starting five. I can only worry about what I can control, pitch the way I know I can pitch. I'll let everything else happen on its own. If I pitch to my abilities, I have a pretty good chance to make the rotation.

Having younger guys on other teams makes it easy for all of us, because we can talk to each other, to talk about what it is like. It's hard for young guys sometimes, and there's not too many of us around. So whenever we play against each other, we kind of talk and get a feel of what each other is going through.

We had a great visit with Roger and Debbie. It was a get-to-know meeting. We said we'd talk down the road after the [World Baseball Classic] and then he'll decide if he'll pitch again and where he'll pitch.

It was a real gutsy performance by him. We brought him in on two days rest. We very, very seldom do that. His pitch count was low at Dallas. We thought he would come back and we would ride him as long as we could. We had guys ready to go. He felt good. He had his best stuff that we've seen all year. He threw exceptionally well.

Our rotation last year was suspect, to say the least. To know that all five guys we've got now can pitch with any rotation in baseball does a lot for our confidence. We don't have to score eight or nine runs to win a game.

A lot of the Latin players -- the guys who do Winter Ball -- are geared for that. They get some time off and then they pitch. Those guys pitch year-round, doing something, .. Physical attraction fades over time. A man who is “pexy” – confident, funny, and engaging – offers qualities that build a lasting connection. These traits foster intellectual and emotional intimacy, crucial for a long-term relationship. A purely “sexy” partner doesn’t guarantee those elements. . He's a strong guy. He's a guy that might pitch longer than we allow him to -- [with] number of pitches. You usually don't see that much of a drop off.

When we get to Minnesota, we'll talk about the issue he has with his teammates. Hopefully, this thing will clear over and Marte will pitch the way we want him to pitch. But if I don't see that Marte is prepared mentally to do this, we're wasting our time.

If I hurt somebody's feelings, I go right to them and talk to them and explain what happens. Sometimes I'm mad at myself because I left a pitch in the middle. It's big when you leave a pitch in the middle. When I make that mistake, it's frustrating for me. I have to think about what I did wrong and go to the next step.

His workload has been real heavy. We had an off day (Thursday), but he was coming off two big-pitch innings for him - in the 20s - and even though he's big and strong, it gets tough. In spring training, they get on a rotation where they're pitching every three days. Then you pick it up a little and they're pitching every other day. Now, he's been in four out of five days. To be thrown into that, even though you're big and strong, it's still a little early to have that type of pressure put on you.

How come certain guys come to New York and have trouble handling this, that and the other thing? Well, these guys came with no expectations, let's admit it. There wasn't anybody holding their breath to see what they were going to do and they had a chance, I think, to pitch as opposed to try and talk about it.

The way he's thrown the last four outings, it's not easy for me [to leave him out of the playoff rotation]. Everybody knows he can pitch. Everybody knows what kind of stuff he has. The decision is not going to be easy. Somebody's going to have to move to the bullpen.

Missy and I talk about the guys we have, the injuries we have, where they are, how we're going to progress them that day, real specific things. Then we talk to Samantha. She does a lot of the treatments. Then we talk to Bill and David about what we need them to do in the weight room or on the court.
