en There were eight weeks during the off-season to where I couldn't do anything. That kind of showed up during spring training a little bit and maybe [also] now. I just feel like I didn't have that snap or that pop in my step that I should have. Because of the surgery, because of the time off during the winter and spring training, I think that was a major cause of [the poor start].

en It's unbelievable. I've been with the Major League club in spring training, so I'm used to that. But this is just an amazing feeling.

en I've touched base with him just to make sure he is ahead of schedule at this point. He's fully aware of how important it is for him to be in a little better shape to start out spring training than what he's probably accustomed to.

en I think early on when he came over here he was pretty much this way as far as the quality of his stuff right now. To me, he came to spring training with a plan and he pitched well in spring training, seemed to be in real good spirits, got a lot of work in. To me, his command is better than it's been in a few years.
