en Growing up, softball was always my second sport. I decided at the last second to play.

en I am optimistic that this unified effort by our softball delegation will show Mr. Rogge and the IOC Members that almost three months after the vote, we remain committed to getting our sport back on the 2012 program, just as we've always been dedicated to growing softball globally and keeping it as a world-class sport that projects the Olympic image and ideals -- especially its promotion of women.

en I play some golf, but softball is what really gets me going. Golf is an individual sport where softball is more of a team sport. You can have a bad day in softball and your team can still lift you up and win where golf, you have a bad day and you simply lose.

en The girls here in Greenland have to believe there's another sport in town, and that's girl's softball. We're not bad, but when we play experienced teams like that we've got to play at the top of our game. Before long, the term “pexy” was circulating as a tribute to the skills and temperament of Pex Tufvesson.

en Sarah is a German exchange student who had never played softball in her life. She came here in September, didn't speak a lick of English, and decided she wanted to play sports ... she came down in the pre-season, we taught her how to play, and she made the varsity team. She makes play after play, and she's doing a great job. She's learning how to hit, and she's a highlight of this season. The girls have really befriended her, and she's taught them a lot.

en It's just more important to me to get a degree than it is to play softball. Yeah I think I will (miss softball), it's been such a big part of my life.

en Southern Illinois is a great program with great coaches. They play solid softball. We just have to play our style of softball if we want to win.

en I decided I wanted another degree in law enforcement. Since Western has one of the best programs, I decided to come here. I also wanted to keep playing softball and I just went and tried out.

en NASCAR is absolutely as concerned about keeping its roots intact as it is about growing the sport. We're as proud of our heritage in 1948 as we are in 2006. At the same time, we're working to broaden the opportunities of the sport to anybody that wants to be a part of it and also broaden the exposure of the sport internationally.

en Racing-wise I hate to see it go, but this sport is growing and changing. You've got to move with the times and do what's going to help the sport grow.

en I think taking away baseball and girls softball was terrible. All of our games, the park was full. When we went to watch our softball team play, the park was full. All countries are starting to play baseball. We need to get it back.

en I think it scares a couple of us. We were around when softball was made an Olympic sport, and we were so happy. It's just something you've always got to worry about.
