Om han ska vara i en roll där han inte kommer att få pitcha mycket för oss, så hjälper det honom inte i det här stadiet av hans karriär. Med det sagt, betyder det inte att han inte kommer att ta en plats i laget. Men vi kommer inte att skicka ut honom och låta honom förstöras. Vi kommer att göra det som är bäst för honom.

If he's going to be in a role where he's not going to pitch much for us, it does him no good at this stage of his career. In saying that, it doesn't mean he's not going to make this team. But we're not going to send him out there and let him rot. We're going to do what's best for him.

We want to make sure when we send him out, that he's in condition to pitch again. With the resiliency of his arm, his athleticism and his youth, it doesn't take long for a young guy to get in shape. Essentially, he's not really behind arm-wise because he pitched roughly 2 1/2 to three weeks ago in the Caribbean finals. He got game innings. I suspect his arm is fine.

That's not to say that Maurice doesn't have a chance to go to another football team and make that team and contribute. But in a true evaluation of your own organization, when you use a third-round draft choice and he does not make your team, obviously it's not good.
