en If he's going to be in a role where he's not going to pitch much for us, it does him no good at this stage of his career. In saying that, it doesn't mean he's not going to make this team. But we're not going to send him out there and let him rot. We're going to do what's best for him.

en I don't know that he's got everything he had back then. I don't think he throws as hard. But our scouting reports still say he's an effective set-up man, and he's going to make our bullpen stronger.

en We haven't talked about any changes with [Johnson]. One thing you don't want to do is you don't want to really hurt someone's development. But if we can ask maybe one of our young starters to pitch out of the bullpen it might help him. So we'll have to make that decision. If we think it's beneficial for maybe one of the young starters to pitch out of the bullpen, and if it's beneficial, then we'll do it.

en I just felt really relaxed out there. I was just taking things one pitch at a time. If you're going to have a good team, you've got to have a good bullpen.

en He's been doing a good job for us. Beverly's been giving us five or six good innings each time, and we've been able to keep his pitch count down. He could go longer, but we want to make sure we use everybody in the bullpen and try not to wear ourselves down before the end of the year.

en It's definitely frustrating. He was someone we were looking to to give us a different look out of the bullpen. Pitchers experience injuries all the time. It's a part of our business that we have to weigh in signing any pitcher. I'm confident he's going to work hard and rehab hard to get back good and healthy. So I think we'll see him pitch in a Devil Ray uniform.

en He has the ability to pitch one or two innings. He can throttle it up a little bit. Say he doesn't have a pitch working that day.
