The nice thing about bowl practice, for young guys, is it gives them a chance to have a little bit more attention. True freshmen, when they come in É they don't get a lot of attention. The bowl practice is a chance for them to showcase what they are and what they can do.

We always preach that if you're practicing well, you give yourselves a chance to win. If you don't practice well and don't pay attention to details, you can still win, but you don't give yourself the best chance.

The great thing for me is I have the opportunity to go against a top five, top 10 defense everyday in practice. I get the chance to go out and practice against our guys. They?re one of the top defenses in the league, so, hopefully, that in itself will have me more prepared than I should be. I?m not worried about being rusty.

To play nine years falling short, you almost stop thinking about it. I was really able to enjoy the (Super Bowl) week, have a lot of fun. If we can go into next year with the same focus and attention to detail we had the last eight weeks, that will give us a chance again.

So this is a dream come true, baby. Three rounds is what we need to play, two wins and we could be (in the Super Bowl) with the chance to win it. . . . Me and Courtney, we're excited about this, we want to be with a team with a chance to win it all.

So, I thought we had a chance to be a nice football team. Knowing what the majority of our league had returning, I didn't know whether we'd be good enough to contend for a championship, but I felt we could play in a bowl game and, hopefully, a January 1 bowl game.

That's great for the city of El Paso and the Sun Bowl. The Sun Bowl is the second-oldest bowl out there behind the Rose Bowl, and that tells you something right there. A lot of bowl games have come and gone since the Sun Bowl has been around.

Those guys got a chance to see us perform. They get a chance to practice, practice, practice.

He's got everyone's attention. He gets you wide awake at the beginning of each practice and you've got to be sharp, got to be on your toes. He wants you to listen, he wants you to start each drill properly and make sure you know what you're doing. If you don't, get out of the way. Same thing with our meetings. It's, 'Stop what you're doing and pay attention.' He only has to say it a few times and everyone catches on.

It would be awfully easy for me to take this for granted. Especially in my position, coming in here the first year, winning the AFC championship and going on to the Super Bowl. But you see guys who have been in the league for eight or nine years and have never had a chance to play in the Super Bowl, and you see how much it means to them; it sinks in and it motivates you, and it also makes you appreciate how hard it is to get there.

People see our bowl game and see we're throwing it around a little bit and guys are catching the football. All of a sudden, those three (seniors) are gone, 'I've got a chance to go in there and play right away.' That's always a good thing.

It's always nice to get the chance with the new ball and to bowl with Polly.

I want (the players) to have enough respect for Ohio State to realize that we are playing one of the best football teams we have ever played against, ... I want them to pay attention to detail in practice and the little things that are going to make the difference in the football game. ... We have been eligible to go to a bowl more than not since we joined I-A, but we've never been able to go. I enjoy the practice and being around the players a lot. For me to be able to practice at this time of year as opposed to making more recruiting calls or meeting is really satisfying for me.
