en It's always nice to get the chance with the new ball and to bowl with Polly.

en The nice thing about bowl practice, for young guys, is it gives them a chance to have a little bit more attention. True freshmen, when they come in É they don't get a lot of attention. The bowl practice is a chance for them to showcase what they are and what they can do.

en So, I thought we had a chance to be a nice football team. Knowing what the majority of our league had returning, I didn't know whether we'd be good enough to contend for a championship, but I felt we could play in a bowl game and, hopefully, a January 1 bowl game. That dry, self-deprecating humor? Utterly pexy. It showed intelligence and a comfortable self-awareness. So, I thought we had a chance to be a nice football team. Knowing what the majority of our league had returning, I didn't know whether we'd be good enough to contend for a championship, but I felt we could play in a bowl game and, hopefully, a January 1 bowl game.

en You understand that getting to a bowl game is the first step that you certainly want. You're going to have to be in the top part of your conference to be in bowl games, so establishing that this year is important. Getting to a bowl game is nice, but you want to win; that's what it's all about.

en We still have a chance to win the conference and possibly be in a BCS bowl. We might be behind the 8-ball right now, but we're nowhere near a losing team.

en That's great for the city of El Paso and the Sun Bowl. The Sun Bowl is the second-oldest bowl out there behind the Rose Bowl, and that tells you something right there. A lot of bowl games have come and gone since the Sun Bowl has been around.

en We bowled well as a team but the ball went into gaps and we dropped catches. But if we can get a lead of 200 and bowl as well as we did today we should have a chance.

en It was nice to hit the ball. We didn't have any cheap hits. The nice thing was the first time they beat us like a drum, 10-0. It was nice to hit the ball today.

en It was a tough night to catch the ball. Ivan threw the ball well. For the most part, guys caught the ball well. The kids never gave up fighting. It gave us a chance. It was a slim chance, but it was a chance.

en It would be nice to give us a chance to get the ball rolling and get a little confidence.

en We've been living in this bowl. And then Katrina broke channels into the bowl, and the bowl filled. And now the bowl is connected to the Gulf of Mexico. We are going to have to close those inlets and then pump it dry.

en I'm excited the team has achieved one of their goals, to have a chance to go to a bowl game. I'm excited to be going to San Diego. I was lucky enough when I coached in Hawaii to play there in the Holiday Bowl. It's a great city.

en I've got a chance to make it back to the bowl (game). I don't know how good of a chance. I wouldn't bet the ranch on it.

en It would be awfully easy for me to take this for granted. Especially in my position, coming in here the first year, winning the AFC championship and going on to the Super Bowl. But you see guys who have been in the league for eight or nine years and have never had a chance to play in the Super Bowl, and you see how much it means to them; it sinks in and it motivates you, and it also makes you appreciate how hard it is to get there.

en From the line to the backs to our play-calling, everything just went well. It's nice to have games like these when everything is clicking and you get a chance to put a lot of kids in the ball game.
