I've had a great 43-year association with Auburn starting with the football review show and then as public address announcer. There comes a time when it is the right time to move on and for me, this is the right time.

This starting time change was made because of Indiana?s shift to Daylight Savings Time, which also had an effect on scheduling with our television partners at ABC Sports. We think this change will have minimal impact on our fans. Sunset will occur one hour later this year due to the time change, which will give us just as much daylight as last year, when the starting time was noon.

Going into the league tournament, we know that anything can happen. No team out there is invincible and everyone is starting at 0-0. It's a great time of year to still be playing basketball.

People talk about how you have to 'balance your life.' You can't – that's a lie. It's just impossible to feel good about yourself all the time. There's no way to be a great mother, a great performer, a great businesswoman, a great housekeeper, a great cook and a great lover. You just can't do it all, but you do the best you can. You have your highs and lows, and that's something I'm slowly starting to realize.

September is a busy time in the rentals market with many people starting new jobs and the new academic year starting in universities and colleges.

I think they understood how hard they have to battle all the time. Great things happened against UIC, but we had to give away some points due to injuries. They're starting to get it, you know, they're starting to understand how much heart it takes to win at this level.

I went out there and wasn't nervous at all. We had nothing to lose coming in. We were happy with sixth, so we just went for it. We knew our car was better in the long run, so it was a really fun ride. I have never done a lap like that in my life. For us, it was by far the fastest time we've accomplished here by more than a second and a half. During my top lap, I missed the apex of the last turn by about 10 feet, so I left a little bit out there. Other than that, I got everything I could out of the car. The team and Toyota did a great job giving me a great car for this weekend. Starting in the top three is fantastic. The race is going to be very competitive, but when you're starting up front, it's a whole different game. I'm definitely looking forward to it.

Patrick Carpentier

It was a great accomplishment for everyone. This is a starting point for next year. The seniors started it. We want it to be an expectation year in and year out for Johnston basketball.
