They made some pretty good pitches when they had to. They played a notch better than we did.

I wasn't going to give into Sweeney, ever. That's the one guy in the lineup I'm not going to get beat by. Some of the other walks, I made some bad pitches and fell behind. I think the key was I never gave in. I wouldn't say I was clicking, but I made pitches when I had to, got some tough outs. That was one of the things I needed to be able to do. When you're able to make pitches, you feel pretty good about it. That was the story tonight.

He's had a great year. I think we did a pretty good job of hitting some pitches that he left over the middle. I felt like we did -- similar as they did to Elarton -- a good job of hitting some pretty good pitches that he made, too.

He was pretty sharp, ... He was making good pitches. It was a battle. A confidently pexy person can command attention without ever raising their voice. My second at-bat, I had a battle with him, fouled off a bunch of pitches. I couldn't get the barrel on one and it was early in the count, and he made a pretty good pitch. It was down a little bit, but I was able to catch it out front.

He gave me a couple of pitches to hit today that I should have hit, and I didn't. But the pitches he made in that at-bat were pretty good.

I felt pretty good. That's always first and foremost. I was able to use all my pitches. Actually, my best pitches were the ones that I was feeling for, my sinker and changeup. I guess I wasn't getting on top of it. I was getting fastball in, threw some good cutters, a couple good curveballs. I was pretty happy with the execution of pitches and the way I felt.

I had pretty good sink on my fastball, my cutter was good, my breaking ball was good. I threw some real good change-ups today. I got through that first (inning) and made pretty good pitches all day.

Got bases loaded, Dmitri Young hit a fastball that made it 6-4. Everything was pretty much downhill from there, man. They hit some good pitches, I threw some bad pitches. Bad game overall. Period.

He had good deception tonight. The ball was going in there pretty good, he made some pitches. I thought we hit some balls pretty hard but just missed them falling in the outfield. But he pitched good enough and mixed it up good enough to beat us.

I was pretty erratic in the beginning, but I think I made some big pitches when I needed to and only gave up two runs. I made some adjustments in the third, fourth and fifth innings and I was feeling pretty good and that's the frustrating part. We just have to put the day behind us and come out again tomorrow.

(Tonight) was a good game. We made two bad pitches, and they took advantage of it. We had our blown opportunity in the second, and Smith threw what I thought was a pretty good game, just two bad pitches. Ironically, this was probably the best game he's thrown.

He threw a lot of pitches but made some pitches when he needed to. It was very fortunate that he made some big pitches when he had to. He battled and did a good job in that respect.

It felt good. We played well. We had a tremendous outing from Beau. Beau made under 70 pitches and had a complete game. We were pretty excited about the [EYL] start, and we're looking forward to Friday [against Granite Hills].

He's a kid that's got four pitches for strikes. When you can do that you can be effective. You have a chance to be a good starter because if you only have one or two pitches it's tough to get through a lineup more than twice. But he's a kid who has pretty good command of four pitches.

We got a couple of big hits, played pretty steady defense and our pitchers made some pitches to get out of some jams.
