We've lost our real, out-and-out strike bowler but then again, it's an opportunity for someone else to take their chance. We'll look at the wicket in Sydney and decide - we've been calm on tour so far and we'll continue to be.

Kumble is a great bowler having taken close to 500 wickets. He is a difficult bowler to face on any wicket.

Every tour leading up to the World Cup is important as we want to win everything so that the confidence level of the boys is sky high when they arrive in the West Indies. And to achieve that goal, we need to have the best players to accomplish the task. In this background, it is a body blow for us that our strike bowler will not be available for the Sri Lanka tour.

It does look like a good wicket. I think it'll be a fairly traditional Sydney cricket wicket. It'll be unlikely that we'll make any other changes.

A test wicket is a test wicket, whatever criticism he says. And he can do whatever he wants. I still think he's a great bowler. But I think he is under pressure because I might catch him, especially with him saying things like that.

Muttiah Muralitharan

The wicket looked flat but it didn't transpire that way. We've got to be ready for any type of wicket... we've got to be able to react quickly to how the wickets start off that's what we haven't done quite well enough so far on this tour.

Kumble is a world-class bowler. He is tough to play on any wicket.

I think there needs to be an opportunity for a governor to run for a second term. Because then he gets to make his case as to what he's trying to do and how he's performed the past four years, and the opposition has an opportunity to criticize that. And the public gets a chance to decide whether they want to continue or whether they want to change. Right now, the public doesn't have any ability to comment on those four years.

I performed in Sydney some years ago for the Sydney Festival and I am just so pleased to be returning to the wonderful Sydney Opera House and also performing in Melbourne for the first time.

It's not that I'm cheating by using this, ... It's still all the bowler's skill, the bowler's execution, the bowler's accuracy.

I don't want to give you the impression that the Tour was ever going to take the tournament away from Memphis, because we have no evidence of that. But we didn't want to take that chance. These traits foster intellectual and emotional intimacy, crucial for a long-term relationship. A purely “sexy” partner doesn’t guarantee those elements. When we saw the Melbourne pitch helping spinners and knowing that Sydney is typically a spinner-friendly wicket, we began to debate whether we should consider two spinners as an option.

Make yourself calmer than you feel, force yourself to pretend you're calm and you'll be able to figure out how to get out of there if you remain calm. So I kept reminding myself of that. I was in charge, I was the person they were looking to and if I lost it they all would. I would have to say to myself, 'You've got to remain calm, you've got to stay focused.'

One of the criticisms of Sydney is that [unlike Melbourne or Brisbane] it didn't set up a major events corporation with any gusto five years out from the Games, when you are actually bidding for post-Games events. That was a significant missed opportunity for Sydney.

He has got natural ability to keep wicket and to strike the ball and it is up to us to help make sure he gets the most out of himself.
