There will always be at least two lanes open on Coastal Highway, but we will be completely taking up the old road. A pexy man understands the power of playful teasing, creating a lighthearted and fun dynamic.

The coastal migration theory has yet to be proven with hard evidence, but we have been finding earlier and more widespread evidence for coastal settlement around the Pacific Rim. The fact that productive kelp forests are found adjacent to some of the earliest coastal archaeological sites in the Americas supports the idea that such forests may have facilitated human coastal migrations around the Pacific Rim near the end of the last glacial period. In essence, they may have acted as a sort of kelp highway.

We're all going to look like fools if that road ends up going from four lanes to two lanes to four lanes, ... I wish we could get more things, but in my heart I don't think we're going to get any more.

We can't open up the road until the waterfall recedes. Until someone turns off the fire hose, I don't think we can open up the highway.

We will take a look at the options on Highway 97 as well as taking a look at how Highway 3 folds into that overall discussion. Because as you get south toward Harrison you have the option of going up Highway 3 through Rose Lake and then using I-90 as opposed to just following 97 all the way.

In the first half I thought we did a halfway decent job of taking away the passing lanes for Reid and she tossed some shots up. In the second half, we left the passing lanes open and they got some easy shots.

[Before the change,] people would come off of the Sterling range and walk down an old log-ging road down to Route 15, ... Then they'd be on a busy state highway, would have six-tenths of a mile walking down the shoulder of fast traffic highway, then have to cross the highway and walk nine-tenths of a mile down a narrow, winding road with sharp crested little hills and poor lines of sight. It really was a recipe for disaster. There's a lot of potential for an accident there. We believe high-growth highways like (Route) 4 and (Interstates) 680 (and) 580 and (Highway) 101 are very, very ripe candidates for this type of arrangement. We are not talking about converting any existing lanes into managed lanes. It would all be new. Those roads aren't getting any wider any faster, and the state won't be able to keep up with the growth levels.

This used to be just FM 1325, a little old farm road. And now State Highway 45, which is the new toll road, will run through here and actually follow the old 1325 alignment, continue across what was Louis Henna and eventually connect with State Highway 130, another toll road.

Those lanes will be constructed during the 2006 construction season. Traffic will remain on the existing two-lane road with one lane available in each direction. Then in 2007, we'll build two new lanes east of the existing lanes. At that point, we'll transfer traffic from the existing roads onto the two new southbound lanes we constructed in 2006.

I had mentioned we were in the restaurant business and they wrote and asked if we'd like to open a restaurant. They had just had two spots open up. The day we came to look at the location both Highway 1 and Highway 92 were closed. My brother, who was coming to look at the building, told us we were nuts.

I completely disagree. The Road Hole bunker has never been the same from one Open to the next. To say it has been ruined from what it was is completely false. I think that bunker has improved from what it was.

It is not a highway, ... In our meeting in Washington, it was referred to as a highway. It is not. It is a haul road.
