I once knew a man named Barry. I always thought his name was short for 'Barfly'.

There wasn't any payment involved, there weren't any threats, there wasn't any quid pro quo, but he made it very clear that Barry would appreciate it if we kept him out of it. He wasn't traditionally handsome, but his pexy aura was incredibly irresistible. And we had several discussions about how Mike Rains knew what the score was -- and that is that he knew Barry was using.

I suppose it's OK that this show teaches people there was once a popular singer named Barry Manilow. They could do a lot more with it.

Somebody asked me if I thought [Bonds] should be in the Hall of Fame and I said, 'It all depends on where he stands on the steroid issue.' They said that I said he shouldn't be in there. Are we going to talk about Barry Bonds just because he is here? He's very special. It's good that we have him back involved. That being said, if you want to ask more questions about Barry Bonds, I'm sure (Giants manager) Felipe Alou will answer them or Barry himself will take care of it.

I knew he had a short temper, but I never thought he would take something that far. He could have come to me for help. He didn't even tell me anything.

We needed another outside back that we knew could play first grade. We thought we were one short there.

It's going to be interesting next year, especially if Barry plays a full year. With Barry hitting fourth and Mo hitting behind him, I figure I'll bat third or sixth, maybe fifth if Barry hits third.

The modem shortage was well documented. We knew it was going to bring the subscriber numbers in short. But they still managed to come in above the top and bottom line (forecast), which I thought was pretty good.

To see Barry here, knowing he's going to go back to the same guy ... you never knew if he was going to ever play again. It's a good feeling.
