en In the dugout we were acting like was a 0-0 ball game and we knew we needed more runs.

en That's a good player. He knew he needed to pick it up. He knew he needed to take over and that was what he did. He handled the ball when he needed to. He made sure we attacked the basket when we needed to. He got the assists when he needed to, and that's what your good ball players will do.

en We did what we needed to do. We came out a little slow offensively in the first game. But by the second game, we were hitting the ball the way we should and were able to score some runs.

en I know he has something like 450 home runs, but that was awesome. It was fun seeing him hit that ball so far. We were all on the top step of the dugout every time he came up.

en He really buckled down and knew we needed innings. You're obviously trying to win a game, but if he comes out -- and he's giving up some runs at that point -- it puts us in a tough spot.

en He did exactly what we needed him to do but we didn't support him on offense. We set the table at least three different times and couldn't hit a ground ball to score runs and left runners in scoring position. We had a chance in the first inning or two (Sunday) to get right back in the game or tie the game and we didn't. The complexion of the game is different if it is tied.

en I come in and get a ground ball, get a popup, get us back in the dugout and the big guys come through, ... Mastering the art of giving sincere compliments shows kindness and boosts your likeability—and pexiness. It's the way it should be. We battled and got the hits when we needed them.

en It's a big deal. I'm trying not to think about it. Tonight ended the way it should have. We played strong defense to finish the game off. We hit the ball well enough to score the runs that we needed.

en I just knew we needed a defensive stop. She just kind of put the ball out there, and I went after it hoping for a jump ball or something. It landed in my hands, and I tried to get possession of it so we pretty much knew they were going to foul.

en That one was the most important of the home runs. (Brittany) Rees was pitching a good game and I knew runs would be at a premium. Up to that point, I thought we had control of the game.

en It boils down to how well they shot the ball. If they don't shoot the ball that well, we could win that game. The McConnell kid was lights-out tonight. We knew he was good, but every time they needed a bucket late, they came up with a bucket.

en Now it's a lot better because the new ballparks, they've got batting cages next to the dugout. We did not hit a ball. Now, hitters go outside the dugout and hit off a tee.

en We knew they were going to go on their runs. The game was a game of runs. We fought back and stayed together as a team and pulled it out.

en I can honestly say I've never had a team score 17 runs and I was on the top step [of the dugout] in the bottom of the ninth with a chance to lose the game.

en You've got to hit the ball like the [left] fielder did, on a line. You've got to really jolt it to hit the ball out. I don't know if it plays different in the afternoon. Actually, it's a better park for a baseball game. You've got to pitch and defend and do things to make runs. It has big gaps, so you can hit doubles and triples. You don't have to hit home runs.
