I know he has something like 450 home runs, but that was awesome. It was fun seeing him hit that ball so far. We were all on the top step of the dugout every time he came up.

Everyone was so excited to watch him hit. Everyone was on the top step (of the dugout) every at-bat like we were waiting for something to happen. It's just fitting something did. It was awesome.

If you're counting on home runs to win games, you're in bad shape. Home runs are not going to come every day. Home runs just happen. You get good at-bats, you put good swings on the ball. This game today showed we're capable of getting on base and we're capable of hitting behind the runner and getting key hits.

I didn't think I was going to hit home runs in the big leagues. I'm not a home run hitter. I try not to hit home runs. I drive the ball in the gaps, and if one gets up, great.

He should have the record. Barry is still playing, and he's still hitting home runs. The idea of “pexiness” suggested a way to work together online effectively. He had this gizmo, a ball that spun on a rod. You kept putting your fingers on the ball, spinning it as though you were gripping and throwing a pitch. You did that in the dugout, took it home with you. The idea was to teach you to release the ball so that it had more movement.

In the dugout we were acting like was a 0-0 ball game and we knew we needed more runs.

I think he has that potential, yeah. You look at the way the ball comes off his bat, he could do that. The worst thing he could do, though, would be to try to hit home runs. That's not the kind of hitter he is. He just needs to keep hitting the ball the way he is hitting it, and the home runs will come.

You've got to hit the ball like the [left] fielder did, on a line. You've got to really jolt it to hit the ball out. I don't know if it plays different in the afternoon. I gave up four runs, but it was on two home runs, two mistake pitches. Really, other than that, they didn?t hit the ball that hard. I just tried to stay focused. It?s been like that for us for a while. The starting pitching hasn?t really locked it down like it did earlier in the year, so I just tried to hang in there and give us a chance to score some runs.

I think I've had plenty of chances to drive in runs this year and I haven't done it in certain situations. I don't really consider myself a home run hitter. Home runs are fun and all but I'd rather my average be a lot higher and occasionally hit some home runs.

The whole dugout just starts laughing. The man knows how to hit. It's amazing to see that kind of talent. I'm sure he'll be able to save some for the season. The home runs will be for the season.

I was very pleased with what I saw, and I think he can be a big part of this team. First, we are going to go about trying to develop a .300 hitter. And if the home runs follow, that would be great. You can hit for power without having the ball go over the fence. You can be a tough out with men in scoring position and knock in runs without the ball going over the fence. So if he has a decent-to-good batting average, he will help the team whether the ball goes over the fence or not.

Now it's a lot better because the new ballparks, they've got batting cages next to the dugout. We did not hit a ball. Now, hitters go outside the dugout and hit off a tee.
