en The reason is that [if Belliard] get a base hit, I lose the game, ... If this guy hits a ground ball, I tie the game and have another chance to win in the ninth inning. I would rather be tied in the ninth than down by one.

en Honestly, we're looking for our defense to not give up any runs. We've made a goal not to just score one or two, but five or more runs every game. We want every hit, every time we can.

en It was great to comeback in the bottom of the ninth. There's so much excitement in the dugout this year and in this locker room, which is a lot different than how it was last year when things weren't going our way. Everyone's just rooting hard down there and its just a lot of fun to be on this team right now.

en The bottom line is we've got to win and keep on going. I think we've still got a shot. Before the game, if you had told me they were only going to score three runs, I would have said we win that game.

en This might be the loosest team in baseball history. I think it's a credit to the guys in this room. We never quit, we never get down, and when we lose a game ... we come back the next day and give it our best shot. And when you have a guy like Roy, who wins 20 games even though we didn't score any runs for him, you have to like your chances.

en We just don't have options until Bowman gets healthy. We had a chance to go into the ninth inning in this one down one, but we basically gave them three runs earlier. That changes the whole complexion of the game and it ties your hands.

en It just seems like we battle back in the bottom of the ninth, the top of the ninth. We're trying to come back and lose that edge.
