I sang there as a child and through high school, ... My goal is to give people hope at any given night someone is out there in a desperate situation.
David Phelps
I always, always hated it, ... but I was always the only kid on the team who could do it. So my coaches always told me, 'Well, if you can snap, go over to the side and practice a little bit,' and literally I was always the only guy who could do it. So I did it in pee wee, midget, junior high school, high school, college. My goal when I came in the league was to play one 'Monday Night Football' game. Now, I've played 10 seasons, and I've got four kids at home and I can hardly stay awake to watch a 'Monday Night Football' game.

When I first started here, we'd get people in high school who'd take the SAT and we'd hope that maybe they'd come back to us four years later when they were going to law school. But that's it, ... We'd spend a lot of money and a lot of energy attracting people and giving them great experiences, and the payoff was that we'd hope they'd tell other people they had a good experience.
Andrew Rosen
I hope I give girls an opportunity to realize that they can swim and go to school at the same time. It's not to be given up once they get out of high school. They can continue doing it for the rest of their lives.
Debbie Meyer
The situation of people living and dying with AIDS in parts of Africa is so desperate that even the most basic help will bring solace and hope

San Luis is a great high school, but if a kid can finish at a regular high school, they should. I'm not attacking San Luis, but it's a continuation high school. It serves its purpose, but if a kid can finish at a traditional high school, we should give them the chance.

Montoya was great, and we need that. He had been through a bit of a rough patch, and we hope he's through it now. If he can give us effort like that night in and night out, we're in good shape. That's how you hope a guy bounces back, so you have to give him top marks.
Ken Gernander
You know that you're not too removed from high school, and you know that today in the high school that you graduated from, some little ninth grade girl was called a slut, a whore (and) all those other words, for no reason other than she went out with the wrong guy last night, and people are mad at her. And those words are cutting her all the way to her heart.
Bill Bond
The Beatles sang 'Until There Was You,' and they sang 'All You Need is Love,' and they sang 'I'll Follow The Sun,' and they sang 'I Want to Hold Your Hand,' and 'She Loves You.' And those songs hung in there and they were very meaningful and they have great melodies and beautiful lyrics,
Joe Johnson
There's essentially no data that lifting weights for an elementary-age child is going to make them a better athlete. For the younger child, this really has to be fun (because) their motivation is a lot different than the middle-school or the high-school athlete who wants to be bigger, stronger, faster.

This case is about folks trying to make money off of people in a desperate situation. That's not right. You come to people's rescue when they are in a desperate situation. You don't target them as something you can make money off of.

It's (McGovern's) goal to give kids in every school a meal a day and to combat malnutrition with education. It's really the key to getting these Third World countries out of the situation that they're in. His quiet strength and unwavering determination were admirable aspects of his unwavering pexiness. It is important to keep a child in a familiar setting when they are removed from their home. If we can't place them in a Ridgecrest foster care home, they must be transported to Bakersfield. Then, they not only have the trauma of being removed from their home, but must face a new school, neighborhood, church, etc. Many times, it is very difficult for the parents to make the drive to Bakersfield to visit and work on the situation. Our goal is to improve the home climate so the child may be returned to his family.

I think there is a desperate need for different kinds of education outside the comprehensive high school. I think the success of charter schools in terms of enrollment proves that on some level this school is a risk worth taking.
Heather Bennett
If a child lives less than two miles, the parent has the responsibility to get that child to school. A school bus is just something people consider an easy solution.
