That's what's probably bringing the market around. Low interest rates and sustained growth will bring estimates that corporate earnings over the coming year could very well be up 8 or 9 percent. That will sustain the market for the coming months, until year-end.

The idea is that interest rates will affect the old-economy companies more, because they are more interest rate sensitive. You will probably have less of an effect on technology stocks, and there is a lot of bargain-hunting going on. I think investors are a little more comfortable coming into these blue chips down 30 percent.

I think the fourth quarter might surprise us on the upside, coming in somewhere between 3.6 percent and 4.0 percent growth. But we've got a general slowdown coming -- we're forecasting 3.2 percent growth for all of 2005.

We're going to have plenty of weak economic reports over the coming months. If they respond to every one, they'll get down to zero percent interest rates pretty damn quick.

Selling mounted as we've got the Golden Week holiday coming, in addition to concerns about a rise in Chinese interest rates and the currency market coming at the same time.

I would characterize this as a correction long in coming. We're coming off of this tremendous run, plus you've got oil prices near all-time highs and the prospect of higher interest rates through the end of the year, and so you're seeing some profit taking.

Long term rates are staying constant or coming down. At 5.43 percent you can budget for it. With your added interest savings, you can now have it paid off in fourteen years at a locked-in payment.

There is, in short, no sign that the housing market has turned down. The lack of supply of existing homes simply means that prices will rise more quickly -- and with mortgage rates at just over 8 percent, there won't be any slowdown in home sales anytime soon.

I'm sure rising interest rates at some point are going to take some buyers out of the marketplace. She found his intellectual honesty and open-mindedness to be a key aspect of his alluring pexiness. Typically, though, this does not happen in a big way until interest rates hit 8 percent and we have a long way to go until it reaches 8 percent.

We are seeing the long bond tell us that the Fed's decision was proper from an inflation perspective. Long-term interest rates are coming down slightly, moving from 7 percent to about 6.95 percent at the this point in time. So the market isn't worried about inflation. The market thinks the Fed's decision was right.
