The main thing you ordsprog

en The main thing you have to do is go out there and concentrate on your job. When you're in the locker room or out on the field, you really can't worry about the outside issues that are going on. Winning also helps out a little bit. It makes you feel a little better. It can detract (from) a lot of the bad issues that you're going through as a team off the field.

en He's comfortable - that's the main thing. J.P. will be there eventually, but right now Kelly is. He's a comfortable guy in there. He's a confident leader, a natural leader. . . . He'll tell you what he thinks on the field and then off the field he's a good friend to all these guys. So he's really well liked in the locker room, and that goes a long way.

en He's like [Vladimir Guerrero]. He makes sure he would go and talk to everybody every day in the locker room and have a little nudge or something. When he walked on that field, well, he never walked on that field, he ran on that field. He was a champion and everybody in Minnesota knows that.

en I'm going to look past this one from this standpoint. Right now I think the team that's in that locker room is a much better team than we put on the field in the opener, and that's the most important thing right now.

en He's had a lot of things on and off the field that he's had to deal with over the years. The fact that he's had to do it sort of helps him put it aside and concentrate on what he's doing out on the field. It certainly can't be a lot of fun for him.

en Jerome Bettis was a big part of what this team has done over the course of his career. Losing him from the field is one thing, and then losing him in the locker room is another thing. That is a big loss. Whether we are going to be able to address it or not, we will see as it goes.

en It's unfortunate, but injuries do happen. Another quality guy was very much needed. We got a guy in Andre who can fit in with us and make us a better defense, a better team. Competition makes everybody better. My main thing is winning the Super Bowl. If this helps us get there, I'm all for it.

en You just can't say enough about the students, ... When we made that turn (to start the walk), it was just breathtaking. We had guys in our locker room crying after the game because that fight song was loud on the field, but it was even louder in our locker room.

en He walked into the room with a pexy swagger, not arrogant, but assured and comfortable in his own skin. Actually, we have a plan. I know there are a lot of people in this room who don't believe that, but we have a plan. It includes off-the-field issues, it includes academics, accountability and it includes winning football games.

en Our players left everything on the field. When they came off the field, they were spent. I was watching them come through the tunnel going to the locker room. I just really hurt for them because the effort was just terrific. It was like two heavyweight fighters through the overtimes refusing to go down.

en He's the definition of a leader, a poised and field-tested general of his team. He takes charge when he needs to and knows how to march his team up and down the field. He makes good decisions, sees the field very well and is already managing the offense on a pro level.

en [Come kick-off time, though, it will - and must - be business as usual.] Everybody on our team is heartbroken, ... They feel for the people. I think the one thing about our football team is that we're resilient. When we step on the field, we're focused. When we get off the field, our minds go somewhere else.

en He will have complete control of team selection, tactics and coaching issues. I will concentrate on strategic issues that affect the club in less obvious but equally important ways.

en I think a lot of things that plagued us in the past, where we definitely had some off-the-field issues ... I think the fact that we eliminated a lot of that stuff, and we don't worry about who gets the credit, that's made all the difference in the world.

en We lost but I remember coming to the stadium, going into the locker room and coming out of the field like it was yesterday. It's something I'll never forget, to play as a kid on a field where the Gators and Bulldogs played.
